You can’t say their always the same age, their voice change (The most noticeable is sweetie belle) to Va Voices cracked. Also Fin the human is supposed to be 12, untill his voice change in season 3 and 4, pendleton ward warn stated that he is 15 now, and yes Fin the Human is still the same size as he is in the season one, but he is now longer preteen, but he is teenager now, just like what i think about CMC now, and this lead me to think distance between season 1 to 5 is about 5 years long (i don’t know why some people just thinking it only about 1-3 years long, but never mind that’s my headcanon and it’s make sense to me).

From his first tweet, where he obviously just slipped up in thinking Spike was hatched when Twilight was born, I assumed by “pony years” and “dragon years” he meant “physical age” and “mental maturity”, respectively. E.g., assuming Twilight was born in the year of Celestia 2233, and it was now A.C. 2252, she would be 19 in “pony years”. By remembering that Twilight hatched Spike as part of her entrance exam to Princess Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns, and assuming Twilight had already gone through Magic Kindergarten and 2-3 years of elementary school prior to entering PCSfGU, Miller came up with Twilight being 7-10 years older than Spike, which would put his physical age at roughly the same as his mental maturity.
 
(Obviously not all fans are going to accept that as the canon truth, but it does strike me as reasonable.)

The mere fact that there are plenty of dorks who are so pedantic about the age of a fictional character and in relation to the ages of other fictional characters. Jim here could’ve had a lot of fun with this question and I think he kinda did, with his confusing “dragon years/pony years” thing.

Yeah, there’s absolutely no way to make any ages make perfect sense according to the show’s timeline, beyond saying “X is roughly Y years old, in terms of maturity”. And I’m mostly OK with that. (Seriously, the Cake twins ought to be bigger by now…)

Ember seems to be a teenager, Rarity seems to be a young adult, and Spike seems to be at the onset of adolescence. So I’d say he’d be old enough to date Ember in a couple of years, or Rarity in about 5 years. But that’s just my speculation.

Yeah, if they already done that, and also they stated how much time spend every season, that would be much more easier for us while my headcanon that for first season is is last 2 years and the other season is 1 year long here for the analysis @CyanLightning and here is my age of mane six @CyanLightning, for cmc here and other @CyanLightning, but yeah it much more easier for us if the writer already state their age and how long every season last, but sadly they don’t, untill then that’s the thing that make sense to me.

So why not say she is 30s or 40s, only about 30-60 mayors in the us tha 20s compare to the many thousands that over 30s, and 40s probably median age, seriously you need alot of experience to become a mayor, and most people aren’t really have that at their 20s.

I still wished the characters would’ve named their age so I wouldn’t analyze it through with my head suffering from pain!

1 Ever since “gaunlet of fire” is sparity dead because i didn’t see spike crushing on ember he treating like a friend who a dragon like him also there were some spike/rarity moments.
 
2 Will we have a sparity episode this season the last episode they had together was “inspiration manfestion” i hopeing that question at babscon 2014 didn’t let writers not to do spike/rarity episodes anymore.

Basically, she’d have to grow up herself (random crushes on ponies she doesn’t know aren’t healthy) and give him some time to mature physically. There is still the longevity problem, but Rarity can have him for her whole life and Ember would be just getting ready to settle down with a dragon about Spike’s age by then. Ember has the time to play the long game.

Well in real life you do got some couple that are 36-40 married i recall also when Jim was talking about sparity he said “it would be difficult spike and rarity but not impossible.”
 
It sound like to me Spike and rarity can still endup together but the difficults he talking like yesterday is the age they have to overcome.

Nothing is impossible, but admittedly a ten year gap is a lot to overcome. But Ember is a teenager to Spike’s 9-12 years old, and she’s a dragon, which means she’ll grow and age at the same rate as him. Basically, in around 20 years whatever age difference Spike and Ember have will not matter to their thirty year old selves, but to 36-40 year old Rarity, it’s quite the big deal.

So does that make sparity impossible or can he still hook-up with rarity?
 
It kind of the same with ember she way older then spike also.

This is just a mess, first we have Jim trying to convey Dragons and Ponies age differently and that their the same age. Then we have him saying he’s younger in pony years, does that mean he’s younger in dragon years too? And to make it even more confusing sometimes show is going off actual horse’s lifespans, with AJ saying a year old should but running already. And sometimes they don’t like the Cake Twins not aging at all, and Granny Smiths age.

It’s because she was shown attending the same school as Shining and Cadence in a comic. I consider some comics subcanon, even though pretty much everyone likes to ignore it!

for me twilight is 17… so I guess spike is 10 years old

Isn’t too young to become mayor, while yeah the youngest mayor in the US is 18 years old, but i think it would be great idea for someone that over 40 years old for that job.

In my headcanon, ages are like that: Twilight and Rainbow Dash - 19; Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Marble Pie and Coloratura - 20; Rarity, Fluttershy, Maud, Cheerilee and Starlight Glimmer - 21; Spike - 10 or 11; CMC, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon - between 9 and 12; Sunset Shimmer, Shining Armor, Cadance, Big McIntosh, Mayor Mare and Limestone Pie - between 22 and 25… It doesn’t make any sense, I know!

But what about human years?

okay, let me try to insert your headcanon with mine , if season 1 episode 13 – Fall Weather Friends is actually happen before Winter Wrap Up it will make every season 1 year long, but the thing is that Sweetie belle and applebloom should have cracked voice at season 5, well unless if the every season 1,25 years long, and that would make the sweetie belle and Apple Bloom get their voice cracked in season 4, well i guess i have another version of my headcanon now.
