shh, it’s a dead thread anon. Just leave it in peace. ;_;
Well because it’s true,it’s mostly the right who use those buzzwords.Doesnt stop the left to have their own brand of buzzwords that is discussed and criticized ad vitam aeternam everytime someone need to rub his hateboner against Satan Tumblr
@Draco_2k
No it dont.But the point is using SJW a propos of everything that is slightly left end up like Peter and the Wolf.Screaming “wolf” again and again but nobody came
Lol u made a mistake on the internet
How particularly interesting that the way article you refer to does exactly the same thing you claim to stand against.
“It is now most often used by modern conservatives on the internet - especially Gamergaters, MRAs and reactionary and neoreactionary bloggers - to refer to anyone who expresses a point of view that is to the left of /pol/. As a result, use of the term “SJW” as a pejorative is now a handy shibboleth of the aforementioned groups and a good indicator that this person will not at any point henceforth say anything worth hearing”

RationalWiki never puts its bias aside (certainly not in that excerpt). On the whole it has about as much decency and integrity as Conservapedia; goes to show people are willing to ignore poor research and logic when it supports an opinion they agree with.
You’re right that “SJW” is often used as a meaningless slur against anything the user doesn’t find particularly attractive. “Nazi” and “Fascist” has been used the same way for decades. That does not stop nazis from being a real thing that exists.
“The problem with this term is the usual problem with all snarl words: it is used to discredit/smear ANYONE who dares to criticize the social status quo in terms of gender and race relations. Recent incidents of internet drama have revealed that many people on the internet believe in a vast “SJW” conspiracy to “ban hurt feelings.” This snarl word has no meaning because to the average anti-equality reactionary, absolutely anyone with any kind of open opinion that minorities are human beings is apparently enough to saddle people with the “SJW” moniker.
Whenever someone complains that you’re “one of them SJWs”, the correct rebuttal is: “Why yes, I am a proud defender of social justice. Aren’t you?”
Of course, as with any ideology — humans being humans and therefore not angels — people do exist who take the language and ideas of social justice advocacy and weaponise them into tools to serve power and dominance (in ordinary language, these people are called bullies). And again, as with any ideology, there are people who ride the social-justice train of thought too far, into a bitter version of Cloud Cuckoo-land that interfaces poorly with the reality-based community. This cannot be helped. Every identifiable group of people has its share of assholes, and whatever has power for good can be subverted. The error of the thinking behind the phrase “social justice warrior” is to claim that all advocates of social justice are equivalent to their cause’s worst representatives.
Reasonable people, however — both within and outside of social-justice advocacy — are quite able to address and label such behaviour without resorting to snarl words or tarring an entire community with a broad brush”
SJW is an overused snarl world nowadays just like “Am i triggering you” is the new “U MAD BR0 2008ERAINTERNET LULZ ME GUSTA”,a fallacious deflection with a brand new coat of paint to fit the ongoing “culture war”.
Heck,look at how childlishly they called that university event The Triggering,i’ll probably take the Hoff Sommers/Yianopoulos clique more seriously if they werent drapped themeselves in KEWL CHANNERS terminology(Hoff Sommers rambling about “it’s not CANCER”,retweeting the “Trigglypuff” nutpicking and designing that person as such,embracing the Based Mom maymay).That make them look like that “How do you do fellow kids” gif.I want to like those people and they definetely make valid points but going full 4Chan ? That’s where i’m carefully putting distances between me and the mobocracy
It’s to bad integrity, common sense, and liberty all take the back seat of “feelinz’!” nowadays.
Look there are over billions of people on this planet, catering to everyone’s feelings is stupid and unrealistic. Anyone can find anything “offensive” these days. That’s why concept like “microaggressions”, “Hate speech”, etc anything politically correct is bullshit. Goes against the dynamics of human nature and is suicidal even.

Listen, I will try to explain this only once. Facts > Feelings. If we were to completely forgo facts in favor of feelings then terrible things would happen. “I feel I was raped!” No rape occurred. Oh well they ‘feel’ they were raped so lets just throw people in jail. “I feel like I should be promoted” You haven’t worked in 2 weeks. Oh well they ‘feel’ like they should be promoted. Sorry Lana, no promotion for you, your 20 hours of overtime each week means nothing. “I feel like he wanted to kill me.” He didn’t even look at you, and he doesn’t know who you are. Oh well, they ‘feel’ like they nearly died so throw him in jail. “I feel like she is a witch.” Well that is impossible witches aren’t real. Oh well, burn her at the stake. She must be a witch if someone says so.
Some of those may sound dumb but I think you get my point. True facts are better than subjective feelings. The world doesn’t revolve around any one person. We can’t make room for EVERYONE’s feelings. People have different feelings and those feels would mess with the other peoples feels. Nothing but chaos would result from that.
I am not saying feelings don’t matter. I am saying feelings should not come before facts because facts are more reliable.

@Tyler_Cunn
GET THE MOUNTAIN DEW AND DORITOS, SOME BITCHES ARE GONNA GET NOSCOPED.
Yeah nice straw man you got there. Next time try being intellectually honest.
Except SJW is applied to anyone as soon as they say “[insert minority/disadvantaged group here] is having a problem here, but it’s possible to address it.” Though thanks for tacitly admitting you characterize Tumblr users with blanket statements.
Just like the word racist is dehumanizing to actual racists.
It’s a word used to do that.
Except that SJW is a descriptor specifically for the type of people who do that. See how that works?
“Why are we still stuck resorting to blanket statements that lump everyone commenting as somehow equally culpable of some horrible backwards attitude” – Yeah, Tumblr and the SJWs need to stop doing that.
Yeah, notice how your “facts” are entirely subjective. Well played.
