I don’t hate Starlight even though I wish they hadn’t made her part of the group but I’m not going to sulk and try to hate her as that would just make it hard to like episodes she is in and if the writers can write her well then no harm done and I will even enjoy her character but at the same time I won’t make excuses for how forced she was and how poorly her backstory and reformation was either, gotta take that glass of water with a hint of salt I say.

It’s not so much an argument if she was possessed but more she paid for actions and Starlight didn’t and Luna was easily accepted because when she was “reformed” she was literally transformed into child Luna and Celestia’s sister and she was clearly no longer the entity Nightmare moon where as Starlight got nothing and was just immediately trusted by everyone even though she was the exact same mare who just a few minutes ago was trying to ruin Twilight’s life forever and just a few months before had kidnapped and assaulted her and her friends with no change on her part at all and no consequences for her actions, so basically if you do wrong and try to hurt others that’s perfectly fine because as a kid you decided you didn’t want to make friends because of petty reasons, that’s what the message equated to with Starlight and her reformation is the worst of all the villains even Sunset who AT LEAST got manual labor and wasn’t trusted till the end of the second movie.

Starlight Glimmer… Twilight is just being Pony. Ponies will forgive almost instantly once an apology is given, but EG Humans hold on to grudges. However Starlight, is under the direct supervision of Twilight, living it Twilight’s Castle.

One problem with your theory there Twilight in rainbow rocks is still a pony in a human body it’s still our Twilight and she didn’t trust Sunset (another pony in a humans body) so no just because she’s a pony doesn’t mean they suddenly lose common sense and she still has the capacity to be cautious and not immediately trust everyone which makes Twilight character in the finale with Starlight very out of character for her, it’s just another hand wave away the writers did to force Starlight into the group they had to make holes just to get her in.

People who says Luna was possessed are so dumb hahahahah unless you mean she can be possessed by her very own magic? lol

Get one thing straight she may be incapable to control her own power because she’s quite messy in the head but in no moment nothing ever took possession of her, see the difference: Trixie uses an external tool for magic which possessed over her and corrupted her, Luna used her own magic that comes from herself inside of her, it’s the result of her simply being alive, sure she can still corrupt because she can’t control it but it can’t possess itself lol

Forgriveness is fast pace in this show, everyone is forgiven quickly by Ponies except.

Discord is still a jerk at times, but he is improving, but relapses time to time.

Sunset Shimmer (Best EG), was accepted by the Humane 5, but was surrounded by High School Brats, High Schoolers forget nothing and forgive nobody, unless it’s cool.

Luna… She had to come out of hiding on Nightmare Night… Luna has low self esteem; enough said.

Twilight is eventually forgiven by Moon Dancer, after her breakdown and Twilight’s apology.

Starlight Glimmer… Twilight is just being Pony. Ponies will forgive almost instantly once an apology is given, but EG Humans hold on to grudges. However Starlight, is under the direct supervision of Twilight, living it Twilight’s Castle.

Only luna and Discords reformation had some sense. Sunset and Starlight acted like they never met any competent person beside Twilight to tell them that friends are important and being jackass is bad. None of them had any family members and friends their entire life? This stuff isn’t realistic and even less having sense when they all change into completely new personality after one monologue from Twilight (unless she actually mind control them)

But Luna did deal with the consequences. She was banished to the moon and punished for a thousand years with exile, imprisonment and isolation. And after being blasted with the rainbow, she looked completely different. So it makes sense that she was accepted quickly. Besides, as of “Luna Eclipsed”, she was still dealing with consequences; she had to deal with the fact that she wasn’t well known as Celestia’s sister, but as the terrifying Nightmare Moon.

Sci-Twi was placed under incredible pressure, including social opprobrium and blackmail. And she was a social outcast without a great deal of confidence in herself to begin with. Most teenagers could not have stood up to that “Release the magic” demand coming from classmates and principal alike.

Starlight needed to be offered something better, but honestly, I don’t think the series has adequately addressed the fact that she is the kind of person who will subject people to psychological torture “for their own good”, nor that she is the kind of vindictive person who will set out to destroy someone’s life for having interfered with her plans. Starlight seems sociopathic; she didn’t quit trying to destroy Twilight’s life because it’s wrong or because it was overkill or because Starlight was making everyone in her village miserable and Twilight freed them to be happy and Starlight recognized that she’d been wrong; no, she quit trying to destroy Twilight’s life because she recognized that it would destroy the world. I haven’t yet seen any evidence that Starlight has yet understood why what she did in Equality Town was wrong, let alone why what she tried to do to Twilight was morally wrong from the beginning and would have been even if Twilight had been a nobody whose friendships didn’t affect anything.

She really ought to be kept under closer scrutiny. Not the level of scrutiny that was applied to Discord, because Discord, firstly, is a dick who enjoys stirring up trouble (I love the guy but come on), and secondly, because the level of suspicion and lack of empathy directed at Discord was so high it contributed to his relapse in Twilight’s Kingdom. Treating someone who has decided to give up evil for friendship as if they’re probably doing something evil, or at least dickish, every time you see them, is certainly going to influence their decision to stay with the “don’t be evil” program… even if it’s justified. So no, Starlight Glimmer shouldn’t be treated with the level of suspicion Discord got. But she should be treated with more than she’s getting.

Luna being possesed means nothing when she agreed to it in the first place. She made a deal, she should deal with the consequences.
Sci-twi had no sense of going to far, seeing as a high school student should have the common sense to drop something they know they aren’t prepared for.
Discord and Starlight are arguably the same, someone just needed to show them something better and give them a reason to strive for it.
As for earning it, making someone jump through hoops really doesn’t do anything outside of waste time and effort when they already want to do better. Look at Sunsets semi-depression, that could’ve turned put worse under different circumstances.
Long story short, so I’m not typing a wall, every case is different, some people need less to grow then others, and some people don’t know when to drop a grudge.
SSJWolverine

  1. Luna was possessed.
  2. It took a whole movie until people started trusting Sunset. One of the themes of Rainbow Rocks is that the only ones willing to give Sunset the time of day were the Humane Five. Even Twilight was hesitant to accept her hand when she came back.
  3. Sci-Twi was under the influence of all the magic she accumulated, much like Trixie and the Alicorn Amulet.

The only one among the three that had to work for her redemption was Sunset, and she did. The other two didn’t work for it because they didn’t need to. Starlight is, or rather was, in the same boat as Sunset. Everything she did was a conscious decision, just like Sunset. And in theory, she would have to work for her redemption. But she didn’t. She had it handed to her.

I’d say out of all the redemption stories on the show so far, Discord was the best handled IMO. Even after he said that he’d be a good boy, it still took a long time for the Mane Six to start trusting him. Second place is Sunset.
