I’m a Sparlight shipper (SpikeXStarlight), but I hardly think Sparity is dead or dying. Then again, I ship Spike with any mare.

You’re writing very well for someone for whom English would be a first language. And I suspect you’re mostly correct in your understanding of what a “crush” is, since most of the time people outgrow them in a matter of months, but I have seen crushes that have lasted 2 to 5 years.
Oh, I have apparently misunderstood ‘crush’, because English is my second language; I’m a Chinese. Sorry for that.
Crushes can last years. Having said that, I don’t mind if someone ships an older Spike with Rarity, or with Starlight as long as they acknowledge Sparlight’s just their fanon.
No reason to bash any ship. Fans are fans; they write research papers about who is the best pony and which ship is OTP. For them, it would hurt a lot to face disagreements. This is why I spoilered my opinion. However, it still surprises and may be slightly irritates me how easy they declared the death of Sparity within two episodes of obvious Starburst hints.
I understand your point, but to give a shorthand rebuttal: shippers will be shippers. It takes a lot to convince `em otherwise
There are those who think Sparity is unlikely even though Spike shows obsession with Rarity that lasts way too long to be called just a crash, and even though Rarity has, more than once, shown her care for Spike, treating him either like a little brother, a friend, or even a pursuer. Now, however, people just insist on a new ship just because Spike has hugged Starlight like he would do to any friend. Well, logic does not exist as reasons when it comes to shipping. It is just an excuse. Age, species, all excuses being grabbed like treasure by some people when they are objecting Sparity, but thrown away at once when they are supporting Sparlight.
IMO, Sparity and Starburst are true parings. Sparlight? No.

She’s ‘expected’ to have one every season.
And logically, she would have plenty of beef with Purplesmarts 1 and 2.
Hopefully yes, Trixie is expected to have an episode this season, and frankly I do see her having little friction with Starlight if she’s still hanging out with mane6 by then.
She’s already far too lucky and beloved by the main characters.
Trixie’s spot is safe.
Trixie might be next, better she watch her back hehe
