Lauren can’t decide on canon. But i think that Jim said that he will keep some of her headcanons and implement them into the show. And he seem to talk about both this tweet and the one where Scootaloo is not an orphan, but just have busy parents. So technically this is canon now.
That’s right, Word of Faust now is just her opinion.
However, and taking for example this case, that doesn’t mean Jim will allow shipping elements in the show, at least for Celestia (putting the comics aside) since him seems to agree with said opinion.
This. What Big Jim suggested is totally untrue, ‘word of Faust’ is just her opinion or headcanon at this point, period.
I can see why a good number of people see her opinions or headcanons or whatever you want to call them as worth at least considering or whatever (though personally, I’ve disagreed pretty strongly with at least a couple that I recall, though I know that those in particular have been totally contradicted/crushed by the show and is clearly just totally false), but they don’t carry any sort of authority as far as ‘canon’ goes at this point.
Not a shipper and not getting into the shipping debate above, or the debate about the image above in general, but just saying.

Given I DON’T ship them, no, it’s not so much in my head as headcanon as I apparently misread the situation?
Headcanon implies I’m to some extent drawing my own conclutions, but when I say ‘they seem to be trying to make them friends’ I am purely talking about what the show itself seems to be saying.
If I claim that it seems like they’re trying to make Twilight be socially awkward in the early seasons, that’s not a headcanon, it’s something I’ve concluded based on what I consider to be pretty definitive in-show evidence.
But, I WILL admit it’s possible I’ve read too much into what little there’s been between the two; I do have a tendency of jumping to conclusions that match how I’d have written the story.
I’m just trying to be clear; That’d mean I misunderstood, not that I had a false ‘headcanon’
It’ll take more than one person disagreeing with my view to change it - at the moment it’s your blunt claim that I’m wrong, versus any evidence I feel I’ve got - but I’ll keep it in mind for next time they’re in a scene together.
Well, yeah, shippers, more specifically, hardcore shippers tend to see everything in tunnel-vision when it comes to their ship, even if they have to twist scenes in which the context has nothing to do with anything remotely shippy.
That’s why I say they need to tone it down.
The problem is that their entire frinedship is in your head as headcanon. In canon he avoid her on purpose and he is completely stressed about her in the comics. Is more likely that at this point his friendship with Rainbow Dash could grow into courtship than with Celestia.
Only if they actually do somehow imply Celestia won’t love again.
They do seem to be going for a ‘friendship’ angle between the two, if mostly to show how Discord’s getting more and more reformed, and friendship is easily spun into courtship (especially friendship with a dose of ‘I screwed up, I’m sorry’)
Well, KP has to accept the idea or the possibilty of Dislestia not happening, for her own sake.
‘ILoveKimPossibleAlot’, one of the more ‘horefamous’ reviewers.
She’s, among other things, known for her love of Discord and his VA (she even managed to get a review with him), and with it comes a strong attachment to the Discord-Celestia ship.
In other terms: She’d be somewhat upset if Celestia ‘will never love again’, since it’d break her ship.
For anyone who thinks being upset about ships is dumb: Reviewers usually have a gimick or running gag of some sort.
Silver Quill would presumably be disappointing if they said ‘Hippogryphs are not just not canon, but generally a stupid idea and will never happen’, and I know two lesser-known ones that’d be upset if they decided ‘we’re never doing good music again’ because they’re musically interested and often spend a decent portion of any musical episode talking about the quality of said music.
