The problem is that they have too short of an attention span to sit down and actually practice instead of goofing around on adventures.

For the longest time I thought Sweetie Belle couldn’t use magic, Scootaloo couldn’t fly :(, and Apple Bloom couldn’t grow things/build a shed. It should have occurred to me earlier that ponies might need to practice things rather than just being born talented.
