Oh, yeah, certainly. I doubt they’ll kill off anypony canonically, but they certainly put them in life-threatening situations (within the show’s rating :P ).
Which I rather prefer. I kind of wish there was even less violence, though, to be honest. If the show kept more slice-of-life then we wouldn’t have this power-creep issue of a Princess and a group of ponies who’ve saved Equestria a dozen times not being able to hail a taxi…
To be fair, it’s been implied several times that individual ponies would die in certain circumstances.
I feel that it was heavily implied that Rarity and the Wonderbolts would have bit the big bagel if Rainbow Dash hadn’t performed her signature move to save them all in Sonic Rainboom. That’s just as one example.

This is a comic based on My Little Pony. A kid can fall down a 500m valley and make it out miraculously if they wanted to.
My thought is more like; “oh crap. That belongs in your body, little filly.”
