The flat bangs were probably just a little too similar to Twilight. Since she’s clearly sticking around for the long haul, they’re probably switching her design up to be more unique.

I think the darker shading is to make her look more inviting. Her original shading looked more cold and distant and fitting for a villain while her current one is more inviting and is more suiting to someone good.
