Actually, his real name is “An Idiot”. The sandwich part is his occupation. You know how sometimes a lawyer can be called something, then end it with “esquire” or “Ace Attorney”? This is the same thing.

That’s not the point, he/she may be a person but the quote is ““what are you?[](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV3_UHG73oQ), the answer being “an idiot sandwich”, which is a noun, not a pronoun, a sandwich is a thing, not a person (even if the contents of that sandwich include a person).  
The answer to “Who are you?” would have to be followed by a pronoun like a person’s name, not an object name.
