I don’t think the writers could keep the characters, the themes, or anything about the show the same if any of the characters were ever put in relationships… it would interfere with the innocence of the show and the special dynamic they’re supposed to share together and honestly, cancelling it would by far be the lesser of two evils. At least if it’s cancelled we wouldn’t have canon ruining of the characters and people could carry on making fanfictions/fanart/etc. the same way they always have, keeping it alive that way.

I’d definitely have to go with option 1. Option 2 would be devistating, but 1 is reasonable. Plus, I think it would be kinda cute for the girls to hook up with some guys, so long as they didn’t steal the mane six’ spotlight and the show remained about the main six.

Neither, because studio b and hasbro would royally fuck up option 1, and option 2 would be terrible. Either one would inevitably start a wave of terrorist attacks and revolts not dissimilar to the recent attacks in Libya and Egypt.
