Would be really funny if it was put into some sort of Gotta Go Fast or Dumb Running Ponies animation.
I dunno, personally I like it. It is certainly better than the Scootaloo one and I really don’t see what all the hate is about…
It’s explainable now.
Permission to kill with fire, sir?
Here’s a render with aperture-styled eyes.
Does it look less dead now?
I think at a lower-poly level, where a more outdated quality would be expected, that wouldn’t look bad. What kills it are the dead-eyes, robotic or not. You could probably circumvent this by making the iris like an aperture as opposed to trying to look natural.
But if it were the Scootaballoon here then yea, whatever.
Here’s my old Feather-Bot model I have (Which had a-lot of downvotes last time I posted it) with retrofitted bones to perform the same animation. It’s the only higher-poly model I currently have.
The graphics just reminded me of the Sonic Adventure. But, yeah, this is more like N64, Saturn, or Playstation.
This is more in the level of Nintendo 64 graphics rather than Dreamcast.
TBH, I think it is in the sweet spot right now. It isn’t too modern to be compromised by simplistic model and yet isn’t too pixelated to look bad. I think he should just leave it as it is right now or make both versions just out of interest to see which one would look best with the current level of detail.
I’m not sure if that would help much as I was referencing mostly the simplistic style of the model itself rather than its polygon count… As of now, it looks as something you would see in simple indie games or handheld consoles/devices. And yes, you can try increasing polygon number to see how it looks… I doubt it would make it worse, so why not? :)
No, use even lower poly models.
I could try to use a higher-poly model if you want.
It may look a bit better, too.
My little Pony Adventures.
An animation test.
