The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@SeraphimDawn
The Byzantines used more rounded archways, if I remember right. Look at the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, or St. Basil’s cathedral in Moscow. Pointed arches needed a different kind of structural support, and seem to be more of a Gothic style, like Notre Dame, or Westminster Abbey. I’d like to think there’s a huge vaulted ceiling over the throne room here.

Canterlot, from the outside, looks like it’s been rebuilt and added onto several times, merging different styles. It’s got onion domes like in a lot of Eastern European and Middle Eastern places. It also has Gothic spires and a large number of turrets with “witch hats” on them. Oriel bay windows are a Renaissance thing. The city proper has a few Tudor styled buildings. It’s a lovely mishmash really.

Sorry if I’m rambling. I’m rereading some Ken Follet books about cathedral construction, and I find it all fascinating.

One word: Armageddon. If Celestia does fall to the Dark Side and become Nightmare Star, no one is safe as the two Royal Sisters, now evil, either choose to rule Equestria together like how their parallel selves tore the parallel Equestria apart, or vie for control.

Again, time will tell.

Elements of Greco-Roman and Moroccan?

Maybe some Moorish architecture? I know Duo Cartoonist got some inspiration from old cities surrounding Andalusia for Canterlot in the “Children of the Night” animation.

Still, since all we see is Nightmare Moon on the throne and Celestia leading the Royal Guards to apparently attack the Crystal Empire, now back under Sombra’s tyrannical rule, there is a chance that Celestia will be forced to use the Dark Side of magic, and thus be corrupted and turned into Nightmare Star.

Time will tell…

People went overboard saying the promo spoiled the finale, myself included but I think it’s more along the lines of spoiling part 1 partially, part 2 is probabily going to be unknown to us.

Just like what Chaos was to Final Fantasy. Luna and Nightmare Moon almost fits in Garland/Chaos’ roles in the series.

If the ruins of the Castle of Two Sisters didn’t seem like the ruins of the Chaos Shrine at the beginning of the first FF, I don’t know what is. The NMM confrontation back in season 1 felt like an intro boss fight.

On one hand, the doors have definitely that almond shape typical of Arabian/ North African architecture.

On theo ther hand, the columns look like Doric-styled columns with an elongated plinth.

Mmm… there would be something similar in Sicilian architecture, but I do not remember if it does have a proper name.
