Projectors are not advanced technology, that’s something it makes sense for them to have due to it’s tech level. Basic machinery is OK, like steam-engines(trains), gas ovens and a Super-Speedy-Cider-Machine. You seem to be under the impression that all technology is advanced technology. There is a disparity. It’s OK for the ponies to be getting on a train to the next city, but it’s not OK for them to be using the Internet on their computer to book a flight and then to go to an international airport where they check in via computer and then board a commercial air-liner. That’s just shoddy writing.

Actually according to the original context of fim any tech rightfully exists so long as there is magic to power it. May i point out that if you pay attention to the commentary for episodes in season 1, where faust was still in charge, you find out that many things such as projectors, lighting-in-a-jar, and machinery were actually part of the lore, but are cut for time restraints

You don’t need an ipod. Ponies don’t even have ipods. Any instances of Ponies having modern Human level technology in the cartoon is simply incompetent and lazy writing because the writer/s aren’t up to the task of writing within the confines of the original context of FiM. That is, writing about Human technology they are familiar with in real life is an easy shortcut.
