V AGREED!!

I’m not really part of Brit culture or early ’80s culture either. I was only 6 when the show was cancelled, but I started watching it on P.B.S. in the mid-‘90s and became quite a fan (maybe verging on obsessive during some periods). I think the revived show is good, but it’s not like the glory days.

v Cool that I didn’t know, but then I’m not part of the “Brit” Culture. I started watching Who back in the 80’s on my local PBS Station. From Hartnell straight though to McCoy.
 
I can’t put my finger on it but ever since the end of the John Nathan Turner Era, Who has been pretty much crap. Then again this could be down to the given 45 Minute format. But I actually liked how they stretch out a Story over the entire Season (or Series). Dr. Who just feels like throw away TV now.

@Ichijoe: There’s an extra on one of the “Doctor Who” D.V.D.s showing Peter Davison on a talk show in the early ‘80s. He’s asked what his given name is and responds that it happens to be the same as the director of next week’s episode. A note somewhere in the extras says that he hadn’t taken into account that the production order for that season of “Doctor Who” wasn’t the same as the airing order. So the next aired episode was not directed by Peter Moffatt but Fiona Cumming, and he received letters asking if his name was really “Fiona.”

IRL he’s called Peter Moffett.
