Video Game General 2: Definitive/Remastered Edition

I’ll be real, I understand why folks are mad about the Dex thing, but it was inevitable. Coding each and every Pokemon would take up a lot of time and resources, and eventually we were going to hit the point where it would cost more than the game would make. It’s a shame, but it’s true.

Code…what exactly? They have literally everything they need for the previous pokemon. The only thing they’d have to do was add a dynamax animation.

Also Pokemon makes millions every release…they’re fine.

Hey, they wanted to make it so that you can bring your friends up with you, this is their grave, and they should be given the time and resources to have them all in. GF is much small than it should be, so if they actually hired the right amount of people needed, this wouldn’t be a problem.

Even still, inevitable. The smart move would be to move to PC and make an engine that can be used for decades, thus allowing them to better minimize extra work each gen. Oh, and stick with the old pixel graphics, they look nice and are easier.

They’re the top grossing franchise, they have no excuse to not put in the effort to make a great game, especially when Mario and Zelda’s Switch games being a thing.

I have my doubts. I heard that asian countries like Japan are slow to listen to angry communities.
 
And as long as it doesn’t do anything nearly as bad, it should be fine.

At the very least they could have split the pokemon into different versions; one version has half, while the other version has the other half.

Or they could go the Yo-Kai Watch 2 and 3 route and have you choose which version you want in game.

Switch is more powerful than 3DS which had them all.

But they had to redo the code for Switch, unlike 3DS, where they had several games to do it.
 
Listen, I’m not defending Game Freak. They let down their fans. But folks need to stop acting like this is some massive surprise, it was gonna happen eventually.

Didn’t dataminers find out that the code was re-used from the previous games? And again, they’re the largest franchise in the world and are under staffed, so they’re kind of the ones at fault in this case.

Exactly. My argument is directed at people who are kicking up a shitstorm over it. Like, if you’re mad, cool. Accept it and move on. They’ll respond to poor sales. What they won’t respond to are infinite angry Internet rants which add nothing.

It’s Pokemon, SnS won’t be getting poor sales unless they made it rated A, and people will still likely buy it enough to make well more than it cost to make it.

Low sales don’t always help either though.  
Recent Star Fox, and F-Zero games had low sales, and Nintendo inncorrectly assumes it’s because they don’t have many fans, as opposed to thinking they should improve them, so they’re practically retired series now, as a result unfortunately.
 
Though, Pokémon is too much of a cash cow to retire, but it can hurt other more niché games.
