Cannon Busters ep 3. Good cold open, wonderfully atmospheric. I liked the way it framed the hero as the scary monster.
Solid choreography. Nice to see Casey learning from his mistakes. Hopefully Sam will, too. Her relentlessly positive attitude is cute for now, but it might get tiresome after a while. The show keeps hinting at the humanity of the robots, like the way they flinch when shot at. I sure hope that builds to something.
The flashback from the previous ep kept going into this one, and it really could’ve been done better. As exposition, it took too long. As drama, I was not that invested in what it showed. It even had a flashback within the flashback. And I don’t understand why they kept cutting back to Sam and Casey, just to knock them out again. Why not do the flashback in one go? (Their escape was pretty funny, though.)
Takagi-san S2E7. The ep hit a number of romantic tropes, but they didn’t really feel earned nor do they feel like they’re going to turn into anything. This is the first time I’ve felt genuine frustration towards this series. Maybe this is growing thin on me.
A lot of gall to tease that they’re going to flash-forward to when the leads are adults and married to each other. But like it’s eponymous character, I suspect it’s only a tease.
Star Twinkle ep 28. This week was about encouraging others and dispelling self-doubt through mutual support. Also it has a fire elemental who
chose to live in a water planet. It’s understandable why the Cures would be inspired by him.
Solid little side arc, but it’ll be nice to get back to the main quest now.
