Not to mention how the “heroes” mind-wiped Dr. Light to completely alter his personality into a joke villain, and then erased Batman’s memories of the mind-wiping when he discovered them about to do it.

To be honest, given what Light did I can see why they did it. And it was lampshaded in the comic itself that they, the heroes, crossed a line.
 
To me it’s just that not only do they have the graphic rape of Sue Dibny, in the end her rape was meaningless in the grand scheme of things for the story.
 
Her getting murdered when she’d finally gotten pregnant (she and her husband Ralph were wanting a kid for years) and having her face burned off was pretty awful too. I can remember it causing a LOT of uproar among the superhero comics fans I knew at the time.

On the subject of DC, anyone else think the “Justice League Unlimited” version of “The Question” is one of the coolest/most amusing versions?

definitely. we need a spin-off with that kind of Question in the arrowverse that way there’d be something to watch in the arrowverse

Actually? It all happened in that one story. Before that she was one of the happiest and kindest characters in the DC-verse.
 
It feels even odder in retrospect given that the author described the story as “a love letter to the Silver Age”.

I thought Silver Age was shit like “Batman and Superman turn into babies and Robin has to babysit them”, not “Beloved female superhero gets raped, has her face burnt off, and then murdered while she is pregnant.

The Silver Age covers alone are worth googling.

With the Silver Age thing, apparently the author meant in the sense of ‘why do villains know the heroes’ secret IDs in one story and then forget them?’ His answer was that the heroes were mindwiping that knowledge from their minds so their villains couldn’t kill their families.
 
Why a brutal rape was needed to illustrate that, I’m not sure.
 
And in the comic it was even worse. After the Justice League B-Team takes Light down – they literally catch him mid-rape – he first threatens to come back after their wives and daughters after getting out of prison and raping them. He also boasts that he’ll be the most popular man in prison when he uses his powers to illustrate ‘My date with Sue Dibny - what’s the matter, guys? Don’t like the rough stuff? She was screaming for it!’
 
By that point I was kind of hoping they’d smear his brains across the wall.
 
The Silver Age of DC Comics, everyone!

Sue Dibny wasn’t a superhero, she was the wife of one (the Elongated Man). After her death Green Arrow specifically describes this as being like a criminal breaking into a cop’s home and murdering his family.

I will never understand why DC wants to go the dark and edgy route. I mean, I don’t see it as a majority appeal.

Watchman is good but I wouldn’t put it as the greatest comic ever. Hell, it’s not even classified as a comic. It’s a graphic novel.

Yeah that’s actually what he’s famous for, like take that away and he wouldn’t have been in teen titans ect becasue he’s not a very memorable villain,
