Blackjack, however… she had lots of names. Lots of criteria. Lots of issues. Her issues had issues. And those issues had embroidered jackets and set up fan clubs.

Subterranean Pacifism is probably gonna be the most lighthearted, and it still contains shocking parental abuse, a scene involving a raider and her newborn, 400 balefire bombs detonated in Manehattan, and a tie in with another one of my fanfics… Can you take a guess as to which one?
I personally considered Blackjack to be 24 TBH. Pip 19, Puppy 5 or maybe 6 if she died on her birthday, Slug 8, Serenity 11, Hired Gun 27, Bullet Holes 25, Sassy Lost 18 (which is canon, the story opens with her celebrating her 18th by killing a steel ranger), Murky I think 18 (Does that sound right?), Scotch Tape 12, Icepick 20-something, and Boing would probably be 9 or 10. Puppysmiles, Threnody, Sassy Lost and Perfect Freeze are the only characters with solidly canon ages AFAIK (And the latter two are never mentioned and the former’s is never stated in PE AFAIK, though I’m only up to Sun City so who knows).
Also, for some reason I think Puppysmiles is taller than average, like CMC tall, and Rainy Days is stacked. Is that just me?

The ages you say kinda sound about right. Considering how some are in maturity.
As for the fall of this sub-fandom, I somewhat disagree with it. I feel that it’s been scattered across the hundreds of side-stories. The one I found is mostly influenced by FO4 but not story wise, its name is Commonwealth if you’re interested, haven’t found time to continue reading it or any fanfic for that matter over the last few months. But I do feel the hundreds of side-stories can contribute to the “dying” sub-fandom. There’s just so many of them that it’s just niche stuff.

It’s eventually revealed that she’s actually Creepy Voice, AKA, Nightmare Moon, shackled to a controlling AI and brainwashed by the Steel Rangers. She eventually ends up beating and banishing Nightmare Moon inside the dreamscape alongside her friends, and deciding to explore an identity independent of Nightmare Moon or Puppysmiles.
As a Star Demon she doesn’t appear physically very often, since she can only manifest by possessing biological material or star metal.

She looked down at her reflection, noting the pink fur, the short yellow hair hanging messily across her scalp, the large, innocent pink eyes. Some awkward teenager, muddling through puberty with as much dignity as anypony managed? “I sometimes feel I’m pretending to be her. The innocent, bouncy child full of enthusiasm. Sometimes I feel so much like her… and sometimes it feels like I’m being so fake, delivering those sweet little lines because I feel I have to.” She brushed some loose hairs from her mane, wondering if she would be considered pretty. She really had no frame of reference to make such a judgement, “I’m glad I’m grumpy and angry and don’t want to talk to anyone. It feels real, like it’s not just an emotion I stole off her.”
“No.” Puppysmiles hesitated, calculating her chances. She was strong, her body seemed to be heavily built and athletically trained, and she was confident she knew how to fight. But that hadn’t helped Star Swirl, and Puppysmiles was forced to admit she didn’t know the first thing about combat magic, “You need to find Star Swirl.”
