I’m not gonna get into foot fetish stuff bc I’m not that familiar with it, but to put it somewhat simplified, the way “non-baby in diaper” and “diaper fetish” are set up, NBID is expected for all instances of diapers on non babies, and “diaper fetish” is expected for suggestive or above instances of diaper fetishism involving characters of any age.

This is about as basic a distinction as the distinction between “messy diaper” and “diaper fetish”. Just because most NBID and “messy diaper” stuff is made to appeal to diaper fetishists, doesn’t mean diaper fetishists and non diaper fetishists are monoliths when it comes to what they want to see and not want to see. _{Mistagging “diaper fetish” on non-baby characters existing in diapers just because diapers are involved and diaper fetishists are the expected audience means tossing the non-baby with the bathwater when it comes to getting filtered by those users who are fine with non fetish diapers.} I’m NOT sorry.

The incidence of non-fetish foot and diaper images is so low it just makes more sense to treat all of them as fetish unless they obviously aren’t; people who are into that will want to see it, and people who aren’t really, really don’t.

I miss the show so much

Does the wingless spike tag serve any purpose? It’s not a new tag, but it’s mostly used by two users these days.

It’s a useless tag; Spike spent seven and a half seasons and a movie without wings, so “wingless” is considered his default state and winged spike is the different state that requires a tag to identify it even though it was his ultimate condition at the end of the series.

So what’s the final verdict on this? It’s basically maintained by a single person.

I could see it having a use to tag an image that has both a winged and a wingless Spike in it, because you couldn’t find it with “spike, -winged spike”. Then, it becomes an argument whether it should be tagged on every wingless spike because it’s factually correct, or whether it’s tag clutter (I have the same dilemma thinking about eyes open…)

A lot of images seem to have the deviantart tag just cause they’re from there.
The image needs to be about deviantart or feature it (or a comment thread or something) to have that tag.

there’s a few import tags that might need aliasing:

imported from ponybooru(31) -> ponybooru import(340)
imported from twibooru(40) -> twibooru import(40)

there are a few other variants and misspellings, but those tags are currently unused

does spoilers for another series apply if the image isn’t a spoiler but the tags are?

to elaborate: (the owl house spoilers)

king clawthorne is tagged titan (looks like someone re-tagged it from demon), but the fact that King is a titan is a spoiler (he’s thought to be a demon in the beginning). Should all King images be tagged spoilers for another series then?

I feel like that’s as much a spoiler as Twilight’s ascension to Alicornhood. Yes, it was a spoiler in the show, but he is, in fact, a titan, and tagging him as a demon really feels like it makes the tagging less informative rather than more. With something like Hootie, that’s a demon all the way beginning to end. But it’s pretty clear from the show - even before the ‘big reveal’, that King never really fit in any categorization as ‘demon’. That’s just not what he is.

IMHO, crossover characters shouldn’t need species tags (unless of course they’re ponified/eqg-ified or unnamed)

I called it in literally the first episode when he got his Not!Burger King crown that he’d turn out to be the Actual King Of Demons by the end of the series, so it was never exactly a carefully hidden thing.

An image that includes a Standard Cat gets the cat tag, and any anthro from another series gets anthro; there’s no reason to stop including useful tags just to keep the small horses in a separate corral.

okay, tagging things well I can understand.
I guess I was a little blinded by thinking of characters with their species in their names. Woody Woodpecker, Finn the Human, Sonic the Hedgehog… things could get a bit redundant, but then again, those species tags already get a lot of use, even without counting images containing those characters, so no reason not to include them

I’d just like to know at what point does a specific become unnecessary to tag.

I mean we had the unspoken rule on this site for years to _not- tag ‘obvious’ things like “no need to tag RD as pegasus or female, everyone knows that hahahaha” and so here I am every day adding female to images people will add 500 tags to but not the most basic barebones things.

I would much rather worry about things being missing versus tagged ‘too much’. Who cares if 50% of hedgehog images are of Sonic, I can just get rid of Sonic from my search if it bugs me. I’d rather it be there than not.

the first response of which pointed out that tags for most other series’ episode names get removed (though I’ve also seen episode titles for the Simpsons and Ed Edd n Eddy floating around)
I’m honestly a little surprised that despite the Spongebob title tags (btw, texas currently covers both the episode and the actual state), nobody’s bothered to tag any image containing a character shouting “That’s a penis” with How I Met Your Mother (the meme origin) and Aldrin Justice (the specific episode)

Episodes of other franchises are probably a bridge too far, at least not with them being generically named and not clarified if it’s a really big thing. Meme names are more than enough per.

I don’t think that even sans rule 63 would character names ever genders or species/races.

This was my take on the same question when brought up (by you) more recently:

I don’t know, that might only work if anyone has spoiler in the tags spoilered, otherwise they might encounter the spoiler in the tags before reaching spoiler in the tags in the taglist. seems as effective as a content warning that lists every specific slur used in a work instead of a general content warning that there are slurs within.

on the other hand, there are non-MLP works that have tags with the spoiler: prefix, and spoiler:the owl house (which is feasibly more likely to be used in custom filters) is currently applied to 120 images
