Celestia: “I think deep down she has some pleasure in being sad, Fluttershy. Sadness makes her feel whole and fulfilled.”

Fluttershy: “That sounds morbid.”

Celestia: “That just might be the key. Twilight didn’t get depressed when I asked her about if she was happy to be sad. She was however uncomfortable and nervous about my question. I think she deep down enjoys not just the tragedy but the feeling of companionship in feeling sad. At least thats my theory Fluttershy. “
