Daniel Ingram recently said that it’s because of the movie having more songs.

Are we ever going to get new character models for the CMC when they reach their inevitable adulthood, or would that be too much of a hassle to the animators?

I mean they changed Starlight’s hair so they can obviously update models. I just think they don’t want to age the CMC. I think they like having children characters.

Also, it could be from the fact that they would have to create a boatload of new character models for them and some of the other school-age fillies/colts, and apparently that isn’t on the animators’ agenda at this time.

Almost all the song this season have not done anything to fix the situation they where in (Mane 6 fail to beat the course record, Mac/Feather’s song just make them come off as dumbasses, and the last episodes song failed to stop the other ponies from fighting.)

Oh yeah you’re right. I didn’t think of that. If they aged up the CMC they would logically have to age up all the other underage characters. That’s the whole class, and would also be the babies (cakes babies and Flurry Heart).
