Well, like I said, the show never says for sure if she’s older, younger, or the same age as Twilight. It’s all down to our personal headcanons. And, as I said earlier, we’re both equally right or wrong till the show officially says otherwise. I prefer Starlight to be a bit younger because otherwise her relationship with Twilight comes off as… Well, unhealthily codependent. I know I always go on about her being Twilight’s adopted daughter, but she’s definitely become quasi-family at this point. I guess I want her to be a little younger because, opposite of you, I don’t want her to come off as even more tragic than she already has.
Sure she can be several years older and really screwed up. There’s nothing that says she can’t be. I just prefer not to think of her that way till I’m forced to.
Also, if we go by Equestria Girls, she was transformed into a human of roughly the same age as Sunset and Twilight in the human world, so I’ll use that as evidence that she’s pretty much the same age as them in the pony world.
