I would quote that line but decided not to because it makes half sense. I will say this though. The more happy and wholesome a fandom is, the more depressed and cynical they become. And oddly enough, the vice versa can happen too. Ours isn’t the vice versa enough to turn it back. Still, it’s sort of balanced that way.

It’s hard not to be down with the fandom’s overwhelming negativity, Hasbro’s complete incompetence, the existence of Wild Manes, and now this absolutely chaotic situation with pony Kamp Koral that probably isn’t even real.

MLP may be in a weird and confusing spot right now, but it can pick itself up with the next installment, depending on what it is and how it performs. If a franchise like Scooby Doo can last for 55 years and running with so many new installments and reboots, some worse than the last and still keep going, then who’s to say My Little Pony won’t be the same? It is a merchandise giant after all, always has been since its conception. Same for other long running Hasbro IP’s like Transformers to name the other obvious example

I feel like part of the reason I even watched this show and joined the fandom was because apart from the first season, FiM appealed to all ages instead of just little girls. It was a kids show, but it wasn’t too much of a kids show.
A more serious retelling of FiM aimed at adult audiences that fixes all the continuity errors and terrible writing decisions would be great but it’d never happen.

Pony shows do have that demographic requirement by law, so Hagwarders had to change… Hopefully I can change that “law” though.

That’s how all generations were up until 5. I agree that they should return to doing it that way, but I can see why Hasbro might be reluctant to give up what they might be tempted to view as a cash cow.

No, they’re very different. 4 draws a lot of inspiration from 1, but few details are copied directly.
For example, 1 had generic fantasy worldbuilding, featured several human and humanoid characters, no alicorns, a large ensemble cast of fairly static characters which gave very little focus on any particular character, and no stallions aside from a single one-off episode.

G4 has very distinctive worldbuilding, focuses primarily on a handful of main characters who grow over time, alicorns but no humans, and several recurring male characters who are actually plot relevant.
