It’s funny how a lot of older franchises have their “geewuners” (Transformers, TMNT, Pokemon), but MLP’s version only pertains to G4. G1 MLP fans are pretty chill from my experience. G4 purists just ruin the mood for everything

I find it unfair that with Wild Manes premiering soon and capturing people’s attentions, there are those who have to bring G5 and especially TYT into it saying how it’ll be “better” like bro can you not? Just watch it as its own thing and don’t compare it to Tell Your Tale, there’s no point other than just being a pretentious snob

I feel I’ve seen more people complaining about others comparing G5 with Wild Manes than I’ve seen people actually comparing the two

It doesn’t help as far as I know they haven’t said anything about the plot and characterizations.

That being said, it’s all about “this looks like that” kind of a thing. You’d think after the Filly Funtasia drama people would know by now cartoon horsie is a thing so you’d need more specifics to even make a discussion worth the hassle.

What the hell is it with me and killing off any friendship I ever make?

Today, I have successfully ended the one friendship that I had made in recent years. I was sent a message from said friend earlier, stating that i should step back for a little while from messaging them, as it felt like I was almost being ‘obsessive’. They are completely in the right in full honesty. I kept messaging most days just to ask if they were okay, just out of the idea of we’ve both had mental health issues, and I don’t want to see them fall back into them. But as is me, with every single fucking person I talk to, I go WAY too ducking far and end up causing more problems for them than if I just fucking ignored them. At this point, what fucking reason do I have to meet people or make friends when all I ever do is end up coming off as some obsessive dipshit with no thoughts at all.

I fucking give up trying to meet people. I fucking deserve to be alone.

all I ever cause is more and more fucking problems for whoever I speak to. And I GUARANTEE this will include whoever sees this first. You will have an awful day, just for th fact that you acknowledged my existence and I can only apologise for it. Fuck me and fuck everything about me

One thing that irks me about the MLP fandom is how they complain about there being “too many reformations”, but when the series gives them a villain that doesn’t reform (Cozy Glow, for example), they’re all like “No! Why couldn’t they have reformed them?!” I know these aren’t necessarily the same people doing the complaining, but still.

It might be fun to make a chart out of it. One axis shows whether or not they were redeemed/reformed, and the other is a sliding scale of how much they actually deserved redemption.

I’d make it a blank chart, and let people fill it in themselves.

Well the villains who weren’t entirely evil or felt conflicted, they just needed some remolding, they were spared.
But the ones who were completely unrepentant and didn’t show a shred of remorse, those were the ones who were defeated. Or worse.
This more or less lines up with my feelings. Even with Cozy. Despite being a literal kid. She was not remorseful or misguided or what have you.

Luna, Stygian, and Tempest, for instance, were all drawn in by dark power, but they themselves never started out as bad guys and just needed the light shone on them again, so to speak.
Same with Starlight Glimmer, just without the “dark power” part. Just her insane personality that needed sorting out.

As for those like Storm King, Tirek, and Chrysalis, they didn’t like, have anything happen to them that needed working out, they were just card carrying bad guys and loving it.

If I had to guess to something I would have wanted seen different, I would wager Lightning Dust could have used a full reformation, but I’m not upset with what we got with her, at least.

Sad but true

I think many people struggle accepting fiction usually uses the concepts of protagonist and antagonist as representations and not actual physical objects or entities, ergo they struggle liking a hero for being a hero and a villain for being a villain.

A subtle way to not being able to distinguish reality from fiction, some redemptions might be enjoyable or not, some just remain evil, but it does look more like they want to make an all or nothing affair.
