MLP G5 Discussion and Speculation Thread

The fandom has pretty much sucked out any enjoyment I can get from the early concept art. There’s always someone saying we were robbed.
We had four versions of That group of characters in roughly ten years We didn’t need a fifth.

While I didn’t keep up with early G5 leaks as to avoid spoilers, I remember being disappointed when I found out G5 was seemingly going to be another version of the G4 Mane 6.

Having never been around for a Generation split before, getting a new cast was what I was most looking forward to.

I remember thinking that this franchise has so much room to expand its characters.
It’s not like ninja turtles when they only have those four characters + Splinter and April. to use every time

I agree, I would love for the ideas from the concept arts to be reused in a future G6, but it’s better for it to be with new protagonists, as this way it can develop without any strings attached.

but MLP usually creates new characters while respecting some old ones. and the art from the original G5 they would reuse all the mane six not just one or two

Of these arts, the only one that I find interesting is one of Applejack, who has a design that is not similar to the G4 and looks more like Sunny, and her brother is not Apple Bloom or Big Mac

I second that. There is a difference between preferring an older design or liking an unused idea and just coming off as straight-up ungrateful. When it comes to unused concepts, where’s your proof that these concepts would’ve been executed well?

That’s the funniest part, in most cases it’s not that the unused concepts are better, what happens is that fans imagine the idealized version of these concepts, it’s the classic the grass is greener on the other side.

I’m sure that if the pilot version of G5 had come out, today a lot of fans would be saying “a G5 continuation of G4, focused on the protagonists reuniting the pony tribes is a better idea”

since I tend to watch tyt episodes in large spurts for some reason here’s my thoughts on the last few episodes.

E6: eh it was mid, a nice way to get misty to confront her traumua… but did we really need the comic charachter there. she hasn’t earned my respect yet

E7: gosh opaline’s castle went to shit in the few months since the final battle. also seriously sunny? do you not know twi was an alicorn also I’m hoping for a luna celestia or flurry heart return.

E8: twitch going deep cover was entertaining.

E9: nice episode I had fun but I don’t have a lot of comments on it.

in summation: the first 5 episodes were mid but now it’s getting to a rhythm. with mym gone it seems like tyt is picking up all of the fun worldbuilding that show had.

Looks like Makaryo’s video explaining why he likes G5 has been inspiring some conversations…

I checked twitter and I’m not seeing this “conversation” ED was talking about?

MLP was trending but that was just people posting art or screenshots of the show, I’m not seeing anyone there arguing about g4 vs g5, nor any sort of mention on Mak and his video

I like both. But I will admit unlike the comment by the the bluebird (not twitter), I don’t like TYT. How does comedy make sense in a narrative? It’s not supposed to. But then again, he never liked any serious worldbulding ever, especially the zebras other than the one and only Zecora. I’ve yet to hear his side simply because I don’t have an account there.

Why do I feel like the upcoming special has to do something with Allrua

Well geez, I get preferring one over the other, but isn’t liking both regardless of strengths and weaknesses also an option?

I saw the lyrics of the next songs from volume 5 of TYT, I think there are a couple of them that have potential for incredible episodes

I don’t know, maybe it was under a trending hashtag of a different name, like a hashtag actually called something like “G5vsG4”. I can see why they wouldn’t want the front page of the posts under the MLP hashtag to be about fighting, but that is coming from someone who doesn’t use Twitter. I’m just posting what was reported after I saw a video talking about it.
