Twilight cuts her own mane/tail. She started the habit back when she was friendless, as she found salon chatter annoying. Eventually it became a habit and she doesn’t feel the need to change it, so even as a princess she’s still doing them herself.

Most people who’ve noticed she never goes to any manedresser assumes Spike does it. IF you told him, though, or asked him to yours, he would laugh a lot and explain that he has no skill at that at all. (He won’t actually talk about the time he tried, though - just because they hadn’t heard of Pinkie Promises yet didn’t make the vow they swore never to speak of it again any less solemn.)

Prince Blueblood’s Family went from being semi Royalty to just normal Nobility after Twilight took over due to him not having Bloodties to the new Princess
 
This led to him getting a wake up call as All his Nobility “Friends” started treating him like Competition Instead of kissing his ass, This Combined with Twilight’s reforms weakening the nobility led to him becoming a hard worker who rose back in Canterlot social Ranks in his later years as one of the most important Political and cultural figures of the era

Blueblood had something of an epiphany in those years. All this time wasted just lazing about like nobles do, when he should be out exploring! He didn’t earn his compass-rose Cutie Mark for sitting on his rear!

The Mane Six being able to take back the Elements from the Tree wasn’t a retcon. In S4, they really couldn’t take them back until they opened the chest which unlocked the Elements and let the Elements be taken again.
