Feature suggestions and discussion [READ THE FIRST POST]

Suggestion to allow searching by source url - make it so that if a url is entered in the search bar, it will instead display results for images that have that url in its sources instead of searching by tags.

This would make it easier for people to avoid accidentally uploading an existing image, in case the reverse image search doesn’t work. Of course, if an image has multiple sources and that url isn’t used as one of them in an existing upload, it wouldn’t prevent a duplicate upload, but between the reverse image search and searching by source url, it should help reduce them.

I dunno where to post this but I thought I needed to say it somewhere. The Pony waifu sim game advertised on the site below images etc is a virus. It’s not legit. I messed around with it for a minute, it never loaded and crashed with the application icon disappearing; I had to manually remove files and run all manner of scans after my anti-virus and stuff started going off immediatly afterwards. so WARNING: THE PONY WAIFU SIM IS A VIRUS!

What system did you play it on?

If no source is provided, the uploader should be prompted to answer yes or no on whether the upload in question is a Derpibooru exclusive. If they choose “yes”, then the derpibooru exclusive tag will automatically be added.

Kinda agree with this, although the graphic style is cute :(

Either or both:

*One could make a hiding filter that exempts every artist tag, of which there are more than 150000, and keep it up to date, but that’s silly and I also think that would result in 50X errors.
Whoops. Not only isn’t it aliased, I knew that it isn’t and somehow got confused. Also, the search works properly.

It’s not because of an alias (there isn’t one), it’s because the colon isn’t registered as an actual character but a magical namespace separator.

Unfortunately not for names that use non-latin characters.

Oops. Super brain fart moment. I literally knew that, having posted about its non-aliasedness in the past.

Actually, it works as expected, I was just completely wrong. No problem using the colon. I also don’t see any other major non-namespaced tags with namespaced aliases, so all is well, I guess.

It would be wonderful if normal filters could use the same “category” namespace the Tag search tool uses. Then you could create a filter that, for example, hides all canon characters by filtering category:character, and monstrous filters like this wouldn’t be needed.

Already tried it before posting. Nothing happened. The filter engine seems to treat it as a normal tag, which of course does not exist.

Display the image ID somewhere on the page.

Why? Easier to copy/paste than using the URL bar, especially for phone posters.

Would be nice but probably a bad idea: display image IDs on gallery views (would be too cluttered)

TIL. It even has BBCode for posting to Fimfiction.

Now that I’ve thought of it, perhaps image IDs in gallery views can be a user (or device) preference that defaults to off.

I could suggest a thing? What do you think of a specific function to find images with very few tags (Below 10 tags for example)

Because the community itself could use this function to put more appropriate Tags for images that have very few ways to be found. It would be interesting or meh?
