People who get the joke would likely not click the link before posting a reply (mostly, at least).
You can check if they posted to this thread before receiving the badge and, if so, what the post said. (the dataset shouldn’t be too huge considering not everyone who views the thread will get the badge, and not all of them will have posted before clicking the link)
It still means byte[] will have a few sleepless nights, though.
Actually…
Since it takes a few minutes for them to refresh, badges don’t show up for a short time. I had already read the initial announcement (and clicked the link, thinking it would go to a “Ha ha, just kidding page” like normal, because this isn’t my first rodeo here) but instead I got the message to enjoy my badge.
And THEN I made a comment. No badge displayed there. In fact, if you go through the thread you’ll find several people wondering why their badge isn’t showing up.
I like the badge, and wish for it to stay. It’s not an idiot badge. And if someone wants it gone, like I said earlier they could just request for its removal in the badge thread. Would be the easiest solution.
The amount of people with it by the end of the day will be quite low, in comparison to the entire userbase.
