Considering how Trump denies Climate Change, dismantling the EPA is a part of Project 2025, and promises to expand oil drilling and consumption, as well as how he promises to get out of NATO even as Russia is still invading its neighbors, yeah. Leaving the country will only let you avoid having your life made worse for so long.But another Trump presidency will fuck up everyone.
I mean beyond that even, the last year of Trump’s presidency he mismanaged foreign policy so badly we came very close to ending up in a war with Iran, and one of the big reasons we avoided it was because of the global pandemic he also completely mismanaged.
I don’t have a high degree of confidence in our chances if he gets a second term.

Immigration does not solve it since any immigrants will be affected by these issues over time as well.

I have something of a kneejerk reaction when I hear “Women are too picky!” but to be fair I gave that paper you linked a look over. Gotta say I’m rather uncomfortable with how much it leans into evolutionary psychology and is using as its case studies a dramatized semi-autobiography and a fictional TV show in Scandinavia. It also uses dehumanizing language to talk about women’s sexuality too. No idea what kind of credentials the authors and the orgs they’re part of have, but I’m wary of some of the arguments made here.
I would agree though, that modern dating apps - particularly as they have been monopolized by a single company - are actively harming people’s social and dating ability.

It’s early polling but first round results of the French legislative elections released by TF1 suggest a huge result for the National Rally, with 34.5% of the vote. The left-wing New Popular Front alliance has 28.5% of the vote and Macron’s party has 22.5% of the vote.
Very likely Macron may not be able to govern at all in his last three years.

Oh yeah I heard about that. A few months back the subreddit got coopted and fully taken over by the Party for Socialism and Liberation, a tankie group that excels at sabotaging and killing progressive movements. A Marxist-Leninist acquaintance of mine who is a rare example of one who opposes China and the USSR tried to push back after they started pushing joining the PSL and not voting in the 2024 election, and she got banned for “spreading imperialist propaganda,” referring to her criticism of China.

Smiling Pony hit it on the head. Most are content to sit around, complain, try to shut down and interfere with any sort of organizing they don’t like, in favor of waiting for some non-specified “revolution” to come. What action they advocate for is vague platitudes about “educating the masses” and getting a general strike going once enough workers have been breadpilled.
