The Surovikin Line lasted longer than Surovikin, so at least there’s that.

But Verbove is just one more step in a grinding advance. Their big target at the moment is Tokmak, and there are still a lot of defensive fortifications in the way. They’ve got maybe a month or two before the weather starts to get nasty, but I’m hoping it doesn’t bog them down too much. (Not like they were doing any fast maneuver warfare anyway, what with all the minefields.)

If they’re trying to make it required for a driver to be present in self-driving vehicles, why even have the self-driving death traps in the first place???

It’s for the times the AI fails. Even if it’s just 10% of the time, someone should be there to minimize the damage in that 10% even if the 90% it’s safe.

You know that scene in Total Recall where the self-driving taxi doesn’t work for Arnold so he rips out the little robot man and drives it himself? That’s basically how I feel about autonomous vehicles.

Kinda makes one think that self-driving vehicles are a bad idea from the getgo. As opposed to, I dunno, public mass transit?

Self-driving tech is kinda bad right now, so it’s good to have a driver just in case. This allows you to research self-driving technologies, while still having a human for safety. The end goal is to improve self-driving tech so much that it will be causing significantly less accidents than humans, so it will be the safer choice (and also cheaper and more convenient).

These are not exclusive. Public mass transit can be self-driving too.

Speaking of autonomous technology, and circling back to Ukraine, this entire war has defense departments and military analysts everywhere scrambling.

The insane effectiveness of Ukraines drone swarm has a lot of people questioning just how good a lot of our modern military is anymore.

Yes, some will point out that Russia was actually a paper tiger that utterly fumbled this war, but that doesn’t change the fact that most modern militaries (the US included) are still built around combat tactics that really haven’t changed much since the 80s.

While old-school, WWII mixed arms tactics have somewhat fallen to the wayside, and modern militaries have been aware of asymmetrical warfare since Vietnam, the sheer scope of changes that the war in Ukraine has revealed is making analysts quite nervous.

Begun the Drone Wars have.

When multi-billion dollar uber-weapons can be smashed to bits by TnT strapped to a tiny helicopter you could buy from Amazon, it makes you wonder.

Yea, improvised weapons and the like have been defeating superior weapons for centuries, but this is different. It’s been scaled up from being a situational quick fix to an honest to fuck tactic.

i don’t quite get it, beyond the percentage ranges overlapping quote a bit. i feel like i need this to be more proberly explained.

Literally nothing about the electoral environment of the past year, from midterms to special elections, matches up with this poll. There’s no universe Trump is leading with young people by 15 points.

Is this poll from a theoretical Trump v Biden matchup, or is this poll for the Republican primaries? If it’s the latter it would make sense.

Important to also note everyone knows electronic warfare is likely the solution here, but Ukraine captured one of Russia’s super duper advanced electronic warfare machines quite some time ago and gave it to us to study, so it’s possible that is a major element of their success here,

Armenia was utterly trounced by the Azerbaijani military due to their usage of drones

There was already like at least a year of heads up before the Ukraine war even started

Yeah, I am suspect due to the frequency of how often the phrase “small sample size” was slipped in here and there. This feels more like MSM trying to frame the election as more favorable to the GOP than it actually is.

Then again, the Washington Post recently attempted to sink the campaign of a Democratic candidate for Virginia state legislature by publishing a lurid hit piece about her Chaturbate account while keeping the Republican source who brought it to them anonymous.

The other day Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, recalled a time when Trump confronted him after a wheelchair-bound vet spoke at a rally that featured Trump. Milley said that Trump lambasted him for letting the vet speak, saying to the effect of “Nobody wants to see that”.

So now Arizona House Rep Paul Gosar is calling for the execution of Mark Milley and saying he’s a traitor.

When MAGA tells you who they are, believe them.

Betrayal isn’t good or bad. It’s who they’re betraying that matters. If someone betrays MAGA by someone telling the truth, I’m all for it.

You can betray a bad person who has control over you and making you do bad things. Betrayal isn’t always bad, but you will be judged by your peers around here.
