I knew there’d be casual / clip watchers that’d stan for Homelander, but genuine watchers of the show, for 3 seasons?

None of the other times in the first two seasons he senselessly murdered people sent off any alarms? No red flags over his incessant bullying of his coworkers? Nothing seemed off with his infantile obsession with “fresh milk” or his baby-weak ego?

Pretty sure every supe dies. The show already deviated significantly from the comics, though.

Pretty much. In the comics almost all the supes in the world end up dying apart from Hugie and Starlight (And a few minor/unnamed ones), however the show is heavily deviating from the comics (such as Black Noir being his own separate person rather then and even more mentally unstable/violent clone of Homelander

It’s because he killed the “bad people.” It’s much easier for people to praise violence and cruelty to those they see as deserving it. It’s harder once they realize that the only difference between them and the “bad guys” in the eyes of the “hero” is who they deem “unworthy.”

In the Comic universe, not only is he the one responsible for the events of 9/11, but he somehow ended up making it EVEN WORSE (IIRC he ended up botching the job so badly he ended up killing most of the team with him, the plane pilots and several civilians, and although the plane didn’t crash into the twin towers, HOmelander decided to throw the plane into a famous bridge instead, doing more damge and it ended up killing a lot more people then the IRL death count of 9/11)

That’s the point. He’s a literal test tube baby created by a company that more or less cornered the market on superheroics. He’s nothing more than a walking PR prop for America.

He’s also a raging narcissist and psychopath. For the first few volumes/seasons he does whatever he can to cover up any mistakes that would hurt his image. Almost exclusively with murder. But then he decides he wants to be in charge and drops the act.

The Boys is very much a deconstruction on the superhero genre not unlike the Watchmen but even more cynical.

This is the exact moment he realises that he doesn’t even need to hide behind good PR or protect his image anymore. He knows that he legit can just straight up murder people in full view of everone in broad daylight and still be cheered for it, and to make matter worse, as of right now there is literally NO ONE who is able to stop him, mentally or physically

Well it was fun talking about a good show (seriously, watch it) but unfortunately we live in reality.

And here in reality, we have the latest piece of “Lock him the fuck up already” news.

Trump’s lawyer is arguing a new scheme that, if the GOP retakes Congress this November, would let them overturn the 2020 election. Yes they are still on about that. And yes the sub-literate with a bad spray tan is jumping on it like it was his daughter. And no, there is nothing Constitutional about it. And yes, there is a non-zero chance this rogue SCOTUS would go along with it.

Combined with this same SCOTUS taking up Moore v Harper our democracy is literally at risk, in the sense that depending on the SCOTUS’ ruling then there will literally be no democracy, or that if Trump does get reinstated/win in 2024 then he will institute dictatorship.

Christ, the only good news as of late is that recent polling shows that Dems have gone from a likely complete routing to a slight advantage this midterms. Depending on the poll weighting they see anywhere from like a 47-65% chance to hold Congress. But that number drops to 0 if the SCOTUS rules “No. Sieg Heil!” on the Moore case.

Fox News, specifically Fucker Carlson and Loser Ingram, went on tangents blaming the Highland shooting on everything from women, to pot, tattoos, and ‘violent media’ (read video games and rap music).

The right wing has completely lost all sense of reality and if you still support them you’re a fucking idiot.

What can be done about the Moore case?

Other than civil war?

Shooters are cowards afraid of the human condition.

They take the suffering that everyone has to go through, and take it out on others.

Shooters will blame anyone but themselves, but in reality their only enemy is themselves.

I’m more concerned with DeSantis’s schemes than whatever hare-brained plan Trump can think up in that decrepit old brain of his.

Decision leaks, and SCOTUS overturns Moore. Like Roe.

No, I still think the dems are completely fucked in the midterms, given the rather weaksauce response to Roe being overturned. That’s not to say abortion rights aren’t important to a lot of people, but moreso that being able to keep a roof over their heads and not starve are a bit higher on the priority list right now, and will be much more so when winter hits.

On a related note: my conspiracy theory about the recent EPA ruling is that it’s the scotus giving the dems legal cover to start back up a lot of coal-fired power stations in order to stave off skyrocketing heating costs. I mean, if you think things are violent now, wait until a lot of people are hungry, homeless, and freezing, or threatened by it.
