Memories are part of what make life worth living. Sure, it’s best not to dwell on them, but they stay with us as an important part of our personal lives, as well as the people we know, and can serve as a means to reflect on ourselves and improve for the better if need be.

Also, without memory, it would be much harder to perceive the world around us as a whole, or even to learn anything. Mic drop.

You don’t know what they did with Doctor Light? I’ll tell you, but I’ll spoil it because it’s fucked up. There was a story where a beloved character both in-universe and out of universe (I want to say the Green Lantern’s wife but I could be misremembering) was raped and killed. The one who did the former and possibly the later? Doctor Light. Why? Maybe the editors were trying a cocaine comeback and thought that was a good idea.
