I’ve had the theme song to The Nanny stuck in my head all day. I don’t know why. I don’t know how it got there. I don’t know how to get it out. I don’t even remember the last time I saw The Nanny. I’d be surprised if it was still on TV anywhere.

This isn’t a bit, by the way. It’s God’s honest truth. If it were a bit, I would have picked a funnier earworm.

You have to understand, I’m a sucker for old TV themes. Mike Post is basically my spirit animal. So the idea of a theme song getting stuck in my head isn’t totally out there. But I would have expected it to be a song I otherwise listen to and enjoy from time to time, like Night Court or Perfect Strangers. Not one I haven’t thought about since the show went off the air.

If Home Improvement started rattling around up there all of a sudden, I’d have similar questions.

How about the theme to Growing Pains? Step by Step? Full House? Charles in Charge?

I feel you, I love Mike Post’s work as well. My favorite TV series theme that he composed is the one for the early 80’s cop show “Hill Street Blues”
