I like Hilda because it’s almost like a British Gravity Falls, I also like the animation as well.

I decided to look at the Genie concept art and I can see why they decided to scrap it (yeesh). Not all concept art should make it to the final stages of a project.

Jentry Chau vs the Underworld was pretty fucking awsome all around the only thing i’d improve was the romance because his powers come out of no were and they imply his family know about them and we were going to get a scene explaining them but it just never happens and are basicly useless after words also the romance itself was kinda eh.
Jentry Chau is a great charater with a great arc and the cast are all likeable to some degree.

Indeed, in fact I strongly disagree with that image’s statement that “concept art is always 300% better than the final product.” I’ve seen a lot of concept art and concept character designs that look pretty terrible, or at least worse then the finalized designs.

That’s why it’s called “concept art,” it’s to help design things, and experiment with different designs, see what works and what doesn’t.

It’s really cute, and funny. I also like it’s art/animation style.

It’s on Tubi for free (with commercials) I highly recommend giving it a watch.

Here’s some context: About once every year, my library takes a few days for selling some old books, films, games, etc. Think of it like a book fair. Along with Ernest and Celestine, I also got Kubo and the Two Strings and the whole VHS collection of Band of Brothers. All of that for $15 ($20 with a bag to carry them in).
Definitely check out GKIDS’ other films that they distributed. They’re definitely worth a watch.

I watched it yesterday. 10/10 easily. Hilarious, captures Wallace and Gromit’s charm in spades while also being heartwarming and incredibly intelligent (never would’ve guessed this movie would have a message about AI and reliance on technology). Plus it sees the return of the series’ most notorious villain.

I have gotten Disney+ and I am going to watch all of the animated feature films made by Walt Disney Animation Studios, one per day.
I have already seen Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs today.

I guess this means you’ll even watch the more obscure ones like Aristocats or Oliver and Company.

Yes. I will also watch the Wartime/Package-Era films as well.

I suppose I should also give my thoughts on each film while I’m at it.
I enjoyed Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. While it wasn’t the first animated feature-length film ever (that’s a common misconception), it was definitely the first animated film to use cels as its medium. It also won an Academy Honorary Award in 1938. From the comedic sidekicks and tragicomic elements, to musical numbers and stories based off classic literature or fairy tales, for better or worse, almost every American animated feature film released for decades afterwards would take elements from Snow White…even the evil witch queen and Snow White’s fake death!
All in all, an excellent and historical moment for not just Walt Disney, but for animation as a whole.

Walt Disney Animation Studios Film Watch – Day 2: Pinocchio
Ultimately, I’m a little mixed about this film. On one hand, The quality of the animation is on par with Snow White and very nice to look at (though, that’s pretty much par for the course for most of Disney’s animated films.), and even with the titular character’s attitude change from a little brat in the original story to a cheerful, kind child in the adaptation, he was still naïve and prone to temptation which gave him enough room to have character development and earn his reward to be a real boy.
On the other hand, a slow, padding start and pretty much none of the villains getting their comeuppance (Lampwick and Monstro don’t count (to me, anyways)) can make the experience a little dour for some viewers.
Lampwick’s transformation was one of the darker highlights for the film. Him crying out for his mama as he turned into a donkey was pretty frightening for a lot of viewers, especially parents, back in 1940.
Overall, I’d still give it a watch, even if it’s not as satisfying as Snow White (again, mainly because of the villains getting away scot-free) in my opinion.

Walt Disney Animation Studios Film Watch – Day 3: Fantasia
This is the longest film made by Walt Disney Animation Studios, clocking in at just over two hours.
Personally, I really like this film. It really shows how music can become art and the pieces that accompany the animation really does wonders for this film.
The highlights for me were The Nutcracker Suite, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, The Pastoral Symphony and Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria. Each musical piece tells a unique story and the animation brings the music to life.
Personally, this is one of my favorite Disney films ever and I highly recommend it if you love classical music and classic animation.

Same, it’s probably one of the most artistic animations they ever made.

Unpopular opinion, but I enjoyed the sequel “Fantasia 2000” too.

Walt Disney Animation Studios Film Watch – Day 4: Dumbo
This film is quite short, clocking in at just over an hour.
For me this film was…okay. The animation is still very nice to watch and the musical numbers, especially “Pink Elephants on Parade” and “When I See an Elephant Fly” are catchy and memorable. I also did enjoy the ‘pink elephants’ moment when Dumbo and Timothy get drunk.
However, there were parts of the movie that, not only were they a little excessive for their time, but would definitely not fly by today’s standards, such as the portrayal of the crows (personally, I didn’t have that much of a problem with them, but I can see how some people might put up a fuss over it.) and a baby elephant getting drunk.
Also the ending of the film felt rushed and not satisfying. Dumbo basically becomes the new star of the circus group after learning how to fly. That’s it.
Overall, I’d say this is the weakest film of Disney Animation’s Golden Age. However, this was made on the cheap to support the next film, so that might explain some things.
