The Troggs - With a Girl Like You, From Home, I Just Sing, Lost Girl, Wild Thing, Your Love and I Want You
From the debut album by the English (From Andover, Hampshire) Garage rock/Protopunk Beat group, “Wild Thing”* (1966)
Their biggest hit, the titular Wild Thing (Which I’ve known ever since I was in my early teens, alongside some of the other above-mentioned songs on this album), is considered hugely influential in the history of Garage rock, Hard rock and Punk music. It features one of Rock’s very few, and possibly only, ocarina solos.
In actuality, the CD I got these songs from his from a reissue of a French mono pressing of the album, labelling them as “Les Troggs” and using the album cover of their debut “From Nowewhere”. Also, it was originally released as “From Nowhere” in the UK with an alternate tracklisting.

Spiritualized - If I Were With Her Now, I Want You, Run, Step Into The Breeze, Symphonic Space, Angel Sigh and Sway
From the English (From Rugby, Warwickshire) Space rock/Dream pop/Shoegaze band, the excellent “Lazer Guided Melodies” (1992).
Spiritualized were an offshoot of the band Spacemen 3, featuring many of the same members. Here, they combine their above-mentioned melange of styles with an ethereal, psychedelic electronic edge. This album is definitely worth losing yourself in, entranced by its beauty!

The Stranglers - Midnight Summer Dream, Ships That Pass In The Night, The European Female (In Celebration Of), Let’s Tango In Paris, Paradise and Blue Sister
From the English (From Guildford, Surrey) Punk/Pub rock band’s seventh album, “Feline” (1983).
Recorded in Belgium, this album has a different sound to their earlier output, taking on a more “sophisticated” New Wave ambiance. Since it arguably lacks the bite of their earlier work (the sharp and intelligent lyrics notwhitstanding), it is considered something of a black sheep amongst both critics and fans of the band.
As a stickler for New Wave myself, I find it it quite brilliant! And as always, bassist Jean-Jacques “JJ” Burnel really rocks!
