Chicken Shack - Crying Won’t Help You Now, Daughter Of The Hillside, If I Were A Carpenter (Tim Hardin cover), Telling Your Fortune and The Loser
From the British blues rock band’s 1972 album “Imagination Lady”.
This album wowed me all the way through, steamrolling from the first song all the way up to the last, with a hard rock style that verged on occasion on Proto-Metal territory. Plus, the album is largely dominated by the thrashy bass of John Glascock, a man who had also played in Jethro Tull, Toe Fat (featuring future members of Uriah Heep) and Carmen (a flamenco-influenced rock group). Sadly, his flame burned out at the age of 28 due to a congenital hear valve defect, apparently worsened by an abscessed tooth.
