As an example for me, I absolutely love the fantasy-comedy-adventure graphic novel
Bone. But there’s one part of it at the very,
very end, like the last few pages, that really bothers me (spoilers inbound):
After all they’d been through together, Fone Bone and his cousins leave to go back to Boneville and leave the Valley behind.
I don’t know. It feels like it was an ending where the creator started off with one ending in mind, but then the plot progressed, characters developed and grew in ways that had not been planned, and by extension the ending would have to be changed to match this development that had happened… except he went with the original ending instead despite it not making sense for the characters at this point.
It wasn’t enough to make me hate the series, but it always puts a damper to my enjoyment every time I re-read it.
