Casting RDJ as Doctor Doom strikes me as desperate and uninspired. I believe he can pull off the role, but why? Was there no one else they could cast?

I just got back from Deadpool & Wolverine, and it was AMAZING! I absolutely love what they did with this one, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are great together, the jokes are hilarious and I love how much they make fun of how the MCU has fallen from grace, not to mention continuing to keep it R rated despite them merging with Disney. The easter eggs and references are way too many to count, but here are some highlights:
Chris Evans playing Johnny Storm instead of Steve Rogers was brilliant, Wesley Snipes returning as Blade was magnificent, Jennifer Garner as Elektra was cool, and it was nice to see Gambit since his movie got canceled so this is like redemption. We also get the army of Deadpools which was fantastic, and I do appreciate all the little nods to the first 2 Deadpool movies showing that even if he’s part of the MCU his movies as well as Logan’s are still important. Speaking of which during the end credits they play behind the scenes footage of the making of all the past X-Men movies which definitely was emotional to watch for sure.

Overall I loved this, and I’m hoping moving forward they will start to make corrections to the MCU now because we need more movies like this one.

I would hope the writers can come up with a good excuse since it’d just be better to have someone fresh portray the Doom.

I just watched Starship Troopers for the first time. Good movie. Fascinating to analyze, there’s so much the creators clearly wanted to communicate. A while ago Twitter acted up over the movie because a bunch of weirdos didn’t get the bluntly clear message.
I can kinda sympathize with the weirdos though, since apparently Hollywood didn’t get the message either.

(Edit) I just looked up some discourse and discussion on the film on YouTube and I’m very disappointed in the human race.

That’s the problem when you make fascism look cool.

I actually saw someone say Avatar did a better job of portraying aliens in a sympathetic light because they’re more appealing looking.

Yes, but Hollywood thinks that it’s apparently OK to whitewash the villain these days. I mean they did that with Khan Noonien Singh where he was played by Latin actor Ricardo Montalban in TOS and Wrath of Khan, and by white actor Benedict Cumberbatch in Into Darkness.
