Opeth has always been a difficult band for me to get into. I like some of their music, but their meandering and lengthy songs often feel like don’t they earn their keep. There may be interesting elements in the music, but they don’t seem to form a cohesive and compelling whole. I’m going to try listening to Opeth’s whole discography to see if my opinion changes.

What the music has to do with pink flowers I have no idea. There is a rough edge to this album I like.

I’m 20 minutes into this album and I’m bored with the slow acoustic guitars. In the interest of fairness I will hear this to the end.

How the music built in The Night and the Silent Water was kind of interesting but then it fell apart at the end.

54 minutes now. This album is one of the most tedious I can remember listening to. It’s like the band had a jam session when they were all exhausted and ready to pass out. Hopefully the next album will be better.

It’s interesting to see songs like Bye Bye Bye, Like A Prayer, Forever Young and Iris all become popular again because of them used in the movie Deadpool & Wolverine

This album is a huge turnaround from Morningrise. It’s a concept album that tells the story of a ghost observing his lover in the mortal world. There is better composition here. The songs naturally flow into each other. While not music I could see myself listening to regularly, I respect it as art.

What a stupid excuse for someone trying to cancel Cannibal Corpse those woke warriors never heard of good death metal.

Apparently it all started on a tweet about how they’re grossed out on the lyrics of Panty Shot by MSI (their singer was allegedly a pedo), then someone brought CC’s Necropedophile to shame compare the song.

Then a storm of angery zoomers tweet their opinions on the band and the entire death metal genre.

Brada, tf do you expect from a band whose name is already fucking grotesque? 🤣
