Back to full power. The socket is fixed and waterproof, and the new cord still in perfect condition by the time I fixed the socket.

So I replaced the cord, and the socket now, since the damaged cord heated up the old socket.

Melted plastic. Unaware of how much power we’ve been consuming, but it was under the trip threshold. I’ve been using my multimeter to test, mainly just looking for any unexplained voltage drop, I don’t know what any other settings on the meter do, lol.

I dreamed that Frankie Muniz was getting a foot rub from a topless girl when a big gooey boil popped and exploded all over her face.

We got 15amp NEMA at 120v it varies between 110-120v, which is fine for consumer electronics. 30amp goes into the whole camper.

To us Britains and Germans use whats considered high voltage, for various reasons maybe, high volts travels farther with less electric infrastructure I think.

I need to get a better multi-meter to test the full amps, I got a cheap 10$ thing for my computer. At the moment I can shut it down and see if the prongs are hot, to make sure the connection is good.

EDIT: Oh the European way is generally better, less power loss overall. America got stuck with 120v for standard household stuff because of early adoption but we also use 240v too.

So you use x2 15a NEMA’s to get the 30a?

We do love our “high voltage”, we can draw just shy of 3000w from a standard houshold outlet, that’s why our electric kettles are so good :D Despite us having “230v” the actual voltage is around 253v most of the time. And yes, the current is roughly halved for 230v systems for the same given power as 120v systems.

120v is much safer, I’d imagine death by electric shock is rare in countries using 120v. Construction sites here have to use 110v power tools and lighting by law, the transformers they use are wired with the centre tap connected to earth, so it’s only 55v to earth (you’d have to touch both hots to get a 110v shock). I’ve been shocked by 230v (I was barefoot and standing on a damaged power cord, when I touched a metal light switch the current ran through me) it ain’t bloody pleasant, I felt odd for hours after.

The best way to check if a cable and the connections are decent is to measure the impedance of the circuit, even a cheap multimeter will do that, use the Ω setting.

Both sockets on a nema receptical are on the same 15amp. The guage of the wire decides how much of the 30 can go through.

I got little fear of shock. I’m only concerned in my feet are grounded, or the energized grip onto a live. If you touch a lot of current with the back of your finger it usually doesn’t want to go through you unless you’re a complete circuit.

Good to know that the ground on our plugs won’t let the full voltage through a person, but I’ll try not to test that. I think computer cases are connected to the ground which you can shock your torso if you engage with both hands.

Yeah I’ll figure out the ohms setting. I can tell when resistance exists. My 15$ meter can’t handle a nema socket. It can test the voltage but not handle the current.

It’s cool to hear from a European on the matter.

After about a year and a half, I finally got a WIP back of a commission that I ordered. Wew, now I can finally stop stressing

I just saw some father shot a 57 year old molester dead after being informed he did his 15 year old daughter several times for the last 2 years. He was supposed to be arrested for this situation last year but our justice system is as shit as in the US.

Well done, Dad! You are a role model of a proud parent. Alhamdulillah.

You ever have a big task to do, but it’s so daunting that you keep putting it off and never want to do it, even though you know you have to do it, and it’s preventing you from getting other things done?

…Anyway, I finally cleaned and restrung my beloved Stratocaster after five years of not having done so.
