I haven’t been using this “ship:” suffix since 2017, is this a new thing and is it mandatory to use it and update shipping tags to include this suffix?

Anyway, yes, it’s technically a new thing, but not that new. We’ve been doing it since last July.

Regarding this shipping suffix. It seems was banned when the announcement forum. Seems like it hasn’t caught on despite people voting for it. Moderators don’t seem to concerned about maintaining it either. As I said, you should be more concerned about OP not propley crediting.

People have lives, not every moment is spent checking notifications instead of enjoying the site, nor should people be expected to immediately reply to whatever comments or messages they get. I regularly see comments I plan to reply to but don’t until I’ve done something else more important, like take care of my own happiness and wellbeing.

Moderators are concerned abut maintaining and update tags regularly, but it’s low on the daily list of priorities vs. people uploading dodgy shit, vandalizing tags, or pointless fights and arguments blowing up because someone drew or shipped a horse wrong.

He’s acting like he’s a staff and wanting users to act professional with the way he’s seemingly patrolling the site so he should also be checking his notifications propley. Also the word “seemingly” means that he seems like he was choosing to ignore me. Not an actual fact. No need to attack me. You should be going after OP. Did you click the hyperlink? Those are the sort of people you should be going after. But instead you’re wasting your time whinging at me for daring to accuse the all mighty JP of ignoring me.
Can an actual moderator tell me how to fix the shipping tags to these new fangled ones? Or would you rather just whine about my reason of why I posted my question here in the first place? Also before you start getting hissy about me derailing this thread, it’s JP and The Smiling Pony’s fault. They’re simply making a mountain out of a mole hill because they can’t handle me accusing JP of ignoring me.

AFAIK getting banned does not stop you from reading the forums. There also was no announcement about this when it was decided last summer.

99.9% of Derpi’s users don’t have the means, knowledge or time to fix existing shipping tags. They can create new tags just fine. And believe me, people are creating new shipping tags properly prefixed these days. I don’t have numbers to show you, but lately I’ve seen more new prefixed ship tags more than non-prefixed.

Did you know that 99% of the time I don’t bother to say anything, I just fix the tags and move on.
Did you know that most people actually do change their tagging habits, if you point out that they’re doing something wrong? Now you do. Having to PM someone or get the mods involved is actually rare.

I’m not a mod… but fixing a shipping tag is simple: if the tag does not have description nor implications, just delete the non-prefixed tag and add a new tag that’s prefixed with “ship:”. For example, imagine you have a shipping tag
foobar. To fix it, you remove the foobar tag and add ship:foobar, then you repeat the same to all images tagged foobar. I’ve done this exact operation dozens of times lately.For tags that have description and/or implications, all you can do is wait for a mod to come by and change the tag. I’ve encountered lots of shipping tags that have description and/or implication and I can’t do anything about those which kinda sucks, but again, I’m not a mod, so I don’t have access to the button that can rename a tag. If I had that button, you bet I would press it without hesitation.

I usually subscribe to threads/images manually when I’m expecting a reply, but in this case I forgot. Probably not going to subscribe, because if OP is like what you said, they’ll never reply.
But you shouldn’t disable subscriptions. That’s stupid.
Having potentially dozens, if not hundreds, of notifications every day is stupid too. I’ve kept auto-subscribing off for over a decade now, not going to change that.

The second half they were just making it up as they went and it was… not great.

The first 2-3 seasons are good. Then it becomes painfully obvious the writers have no idea how to resolve all the mysteries and tie up the loose plot points, and they really are just making things up as they go. They do eventually explain lots of the mysteries (even the smoke monster) but many of the explanations feel contrived. But that’s what you get when JJ Abrams is involved.
Despite of those shortcomings, I have lots of fond memories of the show. After finishing a season finale, and realizing you have to wait some 8-9 months until the next episode… that hit hard every time. I’d say it hit even harder than pony season finales (excluding the S2-S3 hiatus). The inter-season ARGs (Alternate reality games) were also interesting.
So go ahead if you want to watch it. You don’t have to wait for new episodes now, but remember that JJ Abrams part.
