VeggieTales was… a very weird show.
 
The version that was shown on TV often had a lot of the more overt Christian messages removed (particularly any direct quotations of the Bible), so the fact that it was basically fundy propaganda went right over my head.

But they used to have direct quotes(maybe some paraphrased) at the end of the show.
 
But i guess that shows how long it’s changed since I watched it myself.

The weirdest part about the show is that it’s called VeggieTales, but one of the main characters (the tomato) is actually a fruit.

Yeah, that’s what I think. Like, tomatoes feel way more fitting among lettuce, cucumbers, olives, and peppers than they do among strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, or tangerines.
 
It’s like how whales and dolphins are technically mammals, even though they feel way more fitting as fish.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an anime with an “out there” premise that has a good first episode.
 
I basically feel like with any show, but especially anime, they never get the pacing right for the initial set up of their ideas. It always feels rushed, overly exposition heavy, characters believe things far too quick. You need to wait until a few episodes in when the tone calms down and the characters start being properly fleshed out.

That’s why I always give TV shows five episodes before I make a conclusion about them and decide whether to keep going or give up watching them.

They’re so… boring. They have identical personalities and the number of tropes they fit can be counted on one hand. Plus, I hate self-righteous OP characters and most of them are exactly this. It’s so pretentious that it makes me barf.
 
Harem MCs are a crutch to a series.
