Unpopular opinion time (super alpha no pony edition)

Eminem isn’t that great. I think he has great production to enhance his admittedly good flow, but the lyrical content itself always feels to me like it’s trying way too hard to be edgy and shocking.

What @Scrabbleman said, plus you’ve gotta understand that for Eminem, be he serious or jovial, edge was what jump started his mainstream fame, sustained his career, and allows him to stay away from irrelevance.
 
That said I do kinda agree as naturally what I said doesn’t always work, but from his POV why not keep at it?

Well no. Rap and hip hop have had a wide variety of topics and sound changes from its start. You have those about love, those with a positive message, those with shock humor and edginess, those about heartbreak and insecurities, those about women and the two that you probably know more of: those about gangsta life/growing up in the streets and those about wealth and bragging that their rich.
 
This isn’t all the topics, these were the ones off of the top of my head.

WAS. He first started taking shots towards pop culture and mainstream media of the time then went to doing shock humor and immaturity. His comeback had him reinvent himself as a more serious rapper with songs about love, bragging about his fame and occasionally addressing how he regrets some of the things he’s said. Just now is he going back to his roots.

Iron Fist is the least good out of the Marvel Netflix shows.
 
And I didn’t like how back when it first came out, people would sya that the only reason you find it bad was because Iron First was a white American instead of being played by an Asian.

I get that it’s his shtick. That much is clear to me. And I’d be hypocritical if I said I had a problem with shock humor, since I also have a huge love for Alice Cooper.
 
What annoys me is that more often than not, there’s no point. It just feels forced, like Eminem is being shocking just for the sake of being shocking. And when he’s trying to be funny, it so frequently falls flat for me, like this song.
 
But hey, it’s what sells records, I guess.
 
The one Eminem song I can wholeheartedly get behind and see why everyone likes it so much is “Lose Yourself.” (Obvious choice, I know.)

also iron fist is considered to be the worst Netflix marvel show, hopfuly season 2 is better since they seem to be leting danny be danny instead of off brand batman angster.

To be fair, that song is often considered one of the worst that he’s released (not his worst song, but one of the worst singles he’s done) both by critics and even his fanbase.

I love it when two CGI characters in a live action movie fight each other, even when the quality of the CGI isn’t that great.

I hate people who use the term “mansplaining” like it’s actually a thing. it’s something only stupid people & stupid feminists say. & mansplaining is not even a thing (shouldn’t be, anyway) & if it were, there would be “womansplaining” as well.

Despite the BBC’s advertising for doctor who series 11 being not very good. I’m keeping a positive hope that the actual show will be better than advertising makes it look.
 
Given the new show runner is Chris Chibnal. I have hope he will do well with the franchise especially now that he’s writing for his own doctor instead of Moffat’s doctors.
