It’s disappointing how many artists are leaving the fandom. I don’t really mind their furry art except when it’s porn, but it’s not quite the same as ponies for me. When they do make ponies, it’s because they were commissioned and not because they want to.

Yeah, but there’s always new artists joining the fandom to take their spot. The problem is, you just don’t notice them.
 
Imagine an artist with 5000 followers suddenly leaves the fandom. Suddenly 5000 people notice they’re gone.
 
Now imagine the same day a new artist joins the fandom and posts their first pony picture. Unless they get a very, very lucky reblog, chances are only 2-3 people are gonna notice them at first. But as they keep posting new art and improving their skill, 20 people will eventually be aware of them, then 50, then 100, then 500, and so on.
 
But by the time 5000 people have noticed them, they’re no longer a new artist. They’ve been around for a while.
 
Basically, artists leaving is very sudden and noticeable, but artists coming into the fandom are just a lot more subtle and gradual. There’s a ton of artists I liked from 4-5 years ago that are long gone, but now there’s a ton of artists who’ve been around for a few months or a year or two who I absolutely love.

Not to mention there are artists who are never featured on EqD, never have their work uploaded here, never getting reblogged by more well-known people. They just stay in some corner of tumblr because nobody ever discovered them, and the artists themselves never knew how big this fandom is.

Before she/he had her/his “breakdown”, Mistydash/ChuckyBB made some of the cutest art on this site. He’s doing a lot of babyfur stuff on FA now

That’s the nice thing though. I actually feel like I’ve been noticing more new, up-and-coming artists than usual recently, so I don’t think there will be any shortage of good pony art for a while. It is kinda sad though when you get attached to an artist, and then they slowly fade out of the fandom. I guess it would be worse though if they were stuck drawing ponies when they don’t like them anymore.

What happened this time? There was that incident a few years back where they pretended to be a Hasbro/DHX employee at Galacon and threw a fit when EQD did an article calling them out (and to this day they still don’t admit what they did wrong)… Not to mention I’ve heard people accuse them of tracing before.

Horse News had this pretty damning article. There’s a lot to sift through, although keep in mind that this is Horse News.

He copied other artists styles, rather well, to the point some artists got angry over it and his attitude over it. He also pretended to be some of those artists to draw fetish art and pass it as alt-accounts instead of him.

Don’t forget the time he started drawing porn of convention mascots either. Especially the part where he claimed that the convention chair commissioned it.

Apparently >>1113472 is supposed to be a series, but the rest of it is apparently gone, a DNP from what I can tell… Then who drew the rest of it if not Marauder6272? I still have 1103500 on my external hard drive…

I just miss John Joseco in general.

So FillerArtist has decided to quit SFM entirely, and I assume MLP as well. A real shame, considering just a few months ago he was the only one in the SFM community still willing to make models that aren’t Mane 6 costumes or OCs that lack Derpi tags…

Yeah, Karpet-shark got fed up with people harassing them while going through some rough times and gave up on the fandom. Still doesn’t like MLP, even made a comment last week about being surprised some pony fans still followed them. Does some furry and Undertale art, but I think it’s safe to say no more pony from them.
