Well to Fluttershy, what she was presenting were nightmares. Fluttershy suffers from social anxiety, and she was projecting that anxiety onto her friends. So, in Fluttershy’s mind, Rarity’s greatest fear was making a fashion faux pas, Pinkie Pie’s was being a poor hostess, and so on.
Its “Fluttershy is scared of things, but is doing her best to overcome it to be able to enjoy the holiday with her friends”. Instead of doing it for herself, or on behalf of someone else, she’s doing it for the relationship with her friends, a mutual thing.

I’m pretty sure all of her attempts to scare people during that scene were tailored to the individual friends. Rarity’s was fashion related, pinkie’s was entertaining related, etc.
The one I gave was of Scare Master.
I don’t remember scoring fences, but it’s probably something like a 7.5 in my book.
Which is still good, by the by.
….Wait, were we rating Scare Master or Amending Fences{which gets a 10/10}
I believe I share that scoring, though it might be more of an 8, but I’m terrible with scores anyways.

Well, I give it that, Fluttershy fears this holiday moreso than most things, akin to her fear of dragons. Given how her friends all love the holiday, I thought this would have made a good setup and the moral was great.
As far as I can tell, people see this as a retread of the standard Fluttershy episode plotline (i.e. “Fluttershy is scared. This is the story.”) The more overt references didn’t help matters.
I gave it a 9/10 in the episode discussion.

Yeah, a lot of people are really hating on this episode and I just can’t see where their really coming from, or at least, I think it’s exaggerations.
Twilight is a bad copy of Twilight.
Moondancer is realer Twilight.
A lot of people’s behaviors were just awful in this episode, especially Ponypon, his behavior was deplorable!
