One odd thing I noticed: in most of the trailer scenes, there’s a little purple dot in the middle of the Science Doohickey, but in >>927838 there’s the outline of a star instead–Twilight’s cutie mark. Which I assume is their way of showing that the Doohickey is starting to charge up on Equestrian magic.
It’s the MacGuffin Medallion, I’m under the impression it’s a Science Tool. As to what it does, going by the current trailer, It opens Magic Portals. Then Overloads and envelopes Twilight in Magic Light and brings in the 3rd act.
what it is exactly? not yet.
depends on what happens next i guess. that scene just reminded me of MSG3.
