It’s a reference to the Stand Alone Complex episode “Escape From”, in which a Tachikoma discovers a cyberbrain which has been converted by the artist who occupied it into a cinema. Most people who dive into it (such as the cyberbrain tech and, for a while, Kusanagi) are so taken with the film shown within that they decide never to leave. The guy with the hat next to Pinkie is the artist.

So Starlight isn’t for ‘equality’, but leading a movement against robots and robitics and general? Hmmm, that’s actually interesting. Of course, it’s not going to hold any water unless Starlight gets into genetic research and finds a way to create the action of lizards and such creatures that can regrow limbs and place it in humans without ‘Lizardmen’ popping up.
 
That and creating ‘test tube babies’ of sorts for couples that can’t have them on their own, like the Cake’s seem to be in this verse since their kids are robots.

I don’t think this Starlight Glimmer is doing something as obvious as stockpiling the technology she collects from her converts for some nefarious purpose. In this setting, that’s not ‘being a supervillain’; that’s ‘Hank across the street’. Heck, that’s Twilight.
 
I think Starlight Glimmer’s Dark Secret, therefore, is not a vault full of stolen cutie marks magitech. In fact, I think her Dark Secret is that she doesn’t have such a vault. She doesn’t want to blast Celestia’s office with a Mega Death Laser; that’s the sort of thing that inspires others to do likewise.
 
Her ultimate goal, I think, is to end technology at the source. One mind at a time.
