Definitely a mare’s body was referenced from the show and the muzzle made slightly blunt to make DW look male. Certainly a lack of stallion-physique reference material in it (show-accurate/traced stallion vectors are kinda my specialty, that’s my disclaimer). Eyelashes were added on for this image, so I’d personally call it as closer to Rule 63 than to a stallion.
 
Derpy uses Rainbow Dash’s hair design rather than her own:  
 
But even the show takes that shortcut for smaller things. I remember a lot of merchandise of her consisting of Rainbow Dash vectors being recolored into her, so the misconception got/gets spread that way, I guess. (To be fair, I had one work fall victim to this that’s still on the booru that I’ve never duped over.)
