Demiurge’s original definition is synonymous with “The Creator”, uppercase The, uppercase C. The entity that has created the entire cosmos.
 
Gnostic definition is an entity controlling purely material aspect of the world who is antagonistic to all things spiritual and is subservient to “Supreme Being”.
 
 
Neither fit Celestia: she isn’t the creator of that universe, she isn’t subservient to the creator, and she is definitely not antagonistic to spiritual things even though she rules over primarily material things while Luna rules over spiritual (dreamweaver, anyone?).

The show doesn’t delve into religious subjects, for obvious reasons. I think it’s safe to say, though, that Celestia is shown as a figure of such immense magical power that her little ponies regard her as a divinity of sorts.

From some dictionary I read, it defined demiurge as a “subordinate deity” so I just went with that. I didn’t know about the gnostic religion thing. I’m willing to believe I’m in the wrong since I just learned that word. I do have some headcanon about Celestia being one of many who are in charge of different worlds and report to a higher power when they need to do so. It’s just a headcanon though.

Yep, the demiurge is the “World’s creator”, Celestia is a simple ruler of the Run.

Isn’t a demiurge, neither in the proper nor in Gnostic definition.
