Not talking about it being a major event, but Hazura’s system is much better I think. I like that he didn’t just go for the simplest solution.
It depends on what the focus of the story is. If conception is meant to be the pivotal plot point, then yes, such a simple solution is unsatisfying. If it’s just part of the lead-up to the actual story, then there’s no point in making it its own distracting major event. Originality is all well and good, but narrative techniques become clichés because they work.
Really, does that aspect need to be so interesting?
But it’s unimaginative, like no effort involved. “Oh two women having a kid? One of them turns into a guy, done.” And it’s like I don’t want them to just turn into the other gender, and that goes for m/m couples too, it kinda defeats the point.
Occam’s Razor. No sense in adding needless complications when you’re already trying to get two women to reproduce.
I dunno, temporary genderswap is just so…obvious. Too obvious even.
I know what you mean. I think the genderswapping is better for male-male relationships but Hazura’s spell is better for female-female couples. Just my thoughts though.
